The MCB demo I had for the day did seem to annoy one driver, but perhaps that was just coincidence.

I've only had one aggressive Vectra VRX driver trying to prove something by trying to drive through my car on a slip road, but one quick blip of the throttle seemed to do the trick and he passed by tentatively.
i had same thing yesterday
was driving on a40 a bit over speed limit

and then went into middle lane and slowed down
next thing i c, a4 estate sits on my ass and guy puts the phone on dashboard and flash comes on 3-4 times
i thought he took pics to report me for spirited driving or whatever, so i went to left lane and slowed down to see if he is gonna pass by or keep sitting on my ass
he passed by with woman in passengers seat and they both smiled to me, so i let them hear my thunder redlining it couple of times, passing by them

Not at the moment, I will get one though but only have the mobile phone for recording so may not sound great as it would not be "on the move".

There do seem to be lots of faux M-badge cars around London - I particularly like the ones with the stick-on M3 or M5 side grills but no quad exhaust, stock mirrors and oversized alloys. I just can't be arsed to waste my time teaching them the limitations of their machinery.

I know just what you mean.
I was on the A11 tonight behind a Metallic Grey Fx Jaguar with PLOD in it, they were unmarked and nicked a guy who went past us, so anyone on the A11 watch out for this car it's a 59 plate jaguar.

That's quite a nice car for them to be using.

I take it you mean XF. There are also unmarked 3 series Bimmers on the M3; I recognise them by their "stock" alloys.

They should be forced to drive Vauxhalls in this economic climate

YEA XF , I hate the "hide and Nick philosophy".
These bar lams should be concentrating on real policing.

As an aside, I take it your interior is piano black; is it difficult to keep pristine? Am weighing up an M5 in the near future and not sure if to go for the piano black or leave the standard.

i see all sorts of undercover cars: vauxhalls, mazdas, fords, bmws (5/3/1), jags, land rovers discovery, etc

impossible to track them, but most of them dont care about speeding, as they dont have cameras inside, so if you clever enough, they cant nick u for speeding and they have bigger fish to catch

Op hve you seen mcb in person? It's a nice color, shouldn't attract too much attention. I saw it on a cloudy day and on that day I couldn't see why it would attract anymore attention than SB. It was like a dull blue. Hard to explain but I liked it.

John/Mstmng: +1 for the demand that they only use push bikes

It's very difficult to tell whether they're undercover plod - over the past few years I've seen all sorts of undercover cars used (even what look like heavily modded Scoobies), with poor sods having been pulled over (mostly on the m1)

Do you have radar/laser detectors? Think I'll need to get one - the m5 just piles on the speed too easily!

Just today at a stoplight a guy in a three series pulled up next to me and motioned for me to lower my window. He wanted to tell me he thought I had a beautiful car, and asked if it was available in a six speed. I told him it was but that the DCT was fantastic. The light changed, he nodded and said "Congrats man" and drove off. Just a very nice gesture from a fellow car enthusiast. I will try to do more of that myself.

if you would tell me what sort of laser/radar is legal in uk, i am more than happy to buy it and install it

but i guess it wont save u from undercover police following u with camera, which radar won't detect...

and i see police 1 in 6 months standing on side of the road with laser gun

so might be pointless for uk in general

In Syracuse my wife's F10 M5 is the the ONLY F10 M5 in the area as our dealership plus the surrounding ones have only sold mine so the responses are the extremes. 99% of people think its just a regular 5 series and don't look twice until we blow by them and 0.5% start taking pics and ogle and the the other 0.5% that are car people always give the thumbs up

I would be careful fitting one of these, the Plod know were to look for them and if they get a "None reading" on the gun, could well pull you in suspecting if this happens and they find it, then it's perverting the course of justice , thats a bigger problem that speeding.
I have the GPS Rider and Video Camera fitted, the rider tells me were the statics are and the camera records all (just in case).

My bad; did not explain myself clearly enough. I meant the interior trim on the dash and doors; standard is the aluminium trace and the piano black is BMW individual. It's just that I have not seen "in the flesh" an M5 with the piano black interior trim and wanted an opinion from someone who has one before ordering.
