SL63 still has the 6.2L M156 as well. Both the SL63 and C63 will probably get the turbocharged M157 in their next generation, but I would expect to see the SLS retain the 6.2L indefinitely. I also would not be surprised to see the next C AMG go with the 4.7L instead of the 5.5L. No reason it could not make at least 100hp/L yielding 470hp or more.

siiick interior, I feel that there are many improvements in line for the interior though. It seems to be just a rough draft of how it will look. Considering it is just a prototype lol. I really like the center console. Great improvement.

but that e63 amg's interior is awesomely nasty.

Is the photo above of the 2012 AMG E 63 interior? If so, where did it come from?

Why does the 1M get better gauges? I love the greyface.

Those photos are of the E63. The CLS63 interior looks like this (note the curvier door cards and different armrest/dash hood/HVAC controls)

sorry to ressurect an old topic but as an owner of a 2012 cls63 i can tell you it doesnt begin to hold a candle to the m5 interior.

actually this is the area, if any, that the m5 kills the e63/cls63 (and the cls is a step up from the e63 interior.)

absoluely every aspect of the m5 interior is better.

for instance...

m5 - real merino leather on dash and center console, cls63 - fake synthetic leather - feels like vinyl,

even the nappa leather in the cls63, where it does exist, isnt as soft or as inviting as the merino . BMW really hit it out of the park.

steering wheel... m5 and cls63 both have nappa leather on the steering wheel, but underneith, it feels as if the cls steering wheel is aluminum or some other hard surface, them5 has this really pleasant "squeezable" qualiy to it. makes you actually WANT to grip and hold on, and "drive"

the seats...

WAAAY more comfortable in the m5. the cls63/e63 seats are too narrow, and the side bolster adjustment only moves a tiny amount.!!!

the thigh support adjustment....

on the cls63, it moves a total of about a 1/3 of an inch from all the way in, to all the way out. like... useless.
the m5 thigh support moves what looks like a good 4-5 inches!!! amazing!!!

upper back adjustment:

m5 has it, not offered on the cls63/e63.

massage and ventillated seats:

havent tried the m5's but the cls63 ventillated seats you can barely tell there on, and the massage function only massages the lower 6-8 inches of your back... and it really is nothing to get excited about.

the active side bolsters:

not sure if the new m5 has these, but in the cls63, they puff out about a second AFTER you make the turn .. kindof pointless.

seat adjustments:

on the m5 there where they should be, on the seat!

cls63 - on the doors where you have to put your hand in an awkward position to adjust them... can never figure out if your supposed to use overhand or underhand approach to adjust them, as the controls , being on the doors, are facing the BACK of your hand..??? uhh, MB, our fingers curl inward, not outward!!!

other areas where the m5 kills the cls/e63...

paddle shifters:

m5, shifts imediately, cls63, shifts about 1 second after you initiate the shift, in other words, you end up not useing them, because they suck.

navagations system:

holy crap!!! the BMW idrive system completely humiliates the navi on the MB!!!

screen on the MB navi is like half the size of the BMW and has about a 1/3 of the options!!! this i could go on about forever... like even tiny details like the idrive knob, has a rubber insert to make it more tactile when rotating the knob...

MB the command knob is just plain aluminum, forces you to grip it harder or your fingers slip.

i could really go on and on...

M5 - soft close doors, cls63 - not offered.

M5: ///M logo on all 4 door sills, cls63 only the two front door sills get teh AMG logo.

M5 - surround view, cls63 - no such technology, back up camera only.

these are all just SOME of the things ive noticed after comparing the cls63 AMG, which i own, to the m5,

(and i havent even driven the M5)

oh and equally equipped, m5 is 7-8 grand cheaper than the cls63
