When is Next Generation M5 Release date?

Hearing/reading conflicting information from dealers, posts, news stories, etc.

A few dealers have said the next M5 is going to be released in late 2017 as a 2018 model. Some posts on here suggest release in late 2018 as a 2019 model.

Any updates/best guesses for release date in US? Thanks.

The dealers know as much as you do. Basically, nobody knows, not even the head of M Division I'm sure. Lol!

My best guess is late 2018 as a 2019 model year for the European market and rest of the world but not U.S. U.S. Models have historically been released later.

So Dave, you think we won't see a G30 M5 in the US until 2019 as a 2020 model? (DISCLAIMER all speculation at this point)

Yes I certainly do guess that.

There was no 2005 M5 here for the U.S Market, only in Europe and other parts of the world.

There was no 98 or 99 M5 here for the U.S. market if I remember, either.

Then there was no 2012 M5 here for the U.S. market as we all know. Canadians and Mexicans were able to order the 2012 M5 but not Americans.

I can only expect the same for the Gxx M5 in the future. Which theoretically puts availability of the 2020 M5 for the U.S. Market sometime between June 1st 2019 and December 31st 2019. So effectively 4.5 to 5 years from today.

My current lease is up in 2 years and I may try to get out of it sooner. I canceled my order for my M5 last year because I couldn't secure a second parking spot in my building's garage for a second car to use in bad weather as I had expected. Last year's winter was horrible here in Rhode Island, snowing 4-6+ inches almost every 2 or 3 days, this year we've gotten an inch so far total and it will be 60 degrees today so I've been regretting not getting the M5. If I wait till my lease is up 2 years from now, do you think the F10 M5 would still be able to order as a 2017 model year in November 2016? Then I could drive that till the G30 M5 in 2020.

Yeah I hear you on the snow. We got it bad here in DC last year as well. Next week brutally cold temps are supposed to hit again, so I think the bad snow is coming soon.

So 2 years from today is Jan 4th 2017. My best guess is that the F10 M5 will end production in December 2016 with a short production span of the 2017 Model Year F10 M5 from July 1st 2016 to December xxth 2016. The M6 will go a little longer in production I think, with the F06 M6 Gran Coupe not ending production until the Spring/Summer of 2017. From Jan 2017 to December 2018 we may see that as being the dead period where no M5's are produced. Again, my best guess is that we will see the new Gxx M5 production start around December 2018 as a 2019 Model Year M5 only for Europe, Canada, and most of the rest of the world, but not U.S.

In summation I think that if you wait all the way until the end of your current lease, exactly 2 years from now, you should be able to either 1. Pick up a brand new last production 2017 M5 off a dealer showroom floor in Jan 2017, or 2. order an Individual brand new 2017 M5 between October and December 2016 and pick it up when your lease is exactly ending.

Awesome. I would order November 2016 when the holiday credits come out and time it pretty perfectly I think. My other option If the F10 M5 is no longer available would be a F80 M3 and a Ford Raptor. No need to worry about snow in that situation lol

So do you have the 2 parking spots that you were talking about then? I need to come up to visit. I want to do a road trip up to Maine, making that number 46 of U.S. States that I have been to. Since I have the Winter Tires on my car, I was maybe thinking a Winter Road Trip this winter. Hmmm...

Does this (the below excerpt from C&D) change anyone's thinking on timing? I know C&D often publishes BS, but seems reasonable. Thoughts?

MY2016 will be the last for the F10 M5 with the last car rolling off the production line at the end of November 2016

BMW could release it sooner than expected Bc of competetion and I'm not sure it'll be a 2019 model lmfao its more like released in 2017 as a 2018.
