How much attention do you get on the road?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Been contemplating the colour between MCB and Black sapphire. For the record, my favourite M5 colour is MCB as it suits the shape very well. My only concern is that it may attract too much negative attention? Do you MCB guys find this? I suppose I enjoy driving around in something that doesnt advertise itself to the whole world but rather a cool and subtle aggression to it My car will be a dd and I will have to visit clients occasionally though I could always drive my wifes horrible Merc A class. In fact, regardless of colour, what sort if any attention does your F10 generate? |

I truly recommend the singapore grey. Its much more subtle than the MCB but in my opinion nicer than the black one as it emphasizes the lines more.

get MCB and dont worry about too much attention, bmw made a big mistake allowing this colour on new 3 and 1 series, so for some people your car will look like 3 series, some ppl will know its m5, some of them wont even notice u

I have MCB also, the only attention I get is from the people who are young and know what the car is and want to race, it's not all day every day though.
Black will need constant cleaning and thats a PITA. Get MCB. PS) I have not seen more that One M5 on the road in the months of ordering one, they are not round here anywhere.

My old E70 (SE version, space grey) got more 'negative attention' than the M5 (moonstone) - most people don't notice or don't care about the M5 and the petrol heads like most of us are likely to spot it regardless of colour, de-badging, etc.
I agree that now the F30 M Sport now offered in EB, a MCB M5 is even more likely to go unnoticed as far as the non-car enthusiast is concerned. Singapore grey is a good alternative to black sapphire if you want something discreet (could be mistaken for sophisto grey) but is currently only offered on M5/M6 as a standard colour, so IMO more special that black sapphire. I use mine for work so went for a relatively discrete colour. My car seems to attract the same level of attention as my old F10 535d in the same colour. HTH. |

Weird, but a whole lot more then I would have expected. I get people commenting about the colour and interior all the time (Silverstone on Silverstone). I also get a lot of valet guys impressed its MT. The attention is nothing compared to the R8 but I thought it would be more "undercover" then it is.

Black Sapphire here...I've gotten a 'thumbs up' from 2 teens walking the sidewalk but otherwise I'll ditto what oryshi said...judging by the number of people that pull out in front of me and force me to slam the brakes...I think I'm invisible.

I do not think the M5 attracts much attention in general, which in turn is the point otherwise they could have slapped an STI wing on the back to 'create more downforce'. I have yet to see a MCB in the northeast interestingly.
That being said, the 'typical' American driver that sits in the left lane doing 70 mph does seem to get out of the way much faster in the M5 than what I have experienced in the past. Not sure if it's the rate that I seem to approach them, or the lights on the M5 (non-LED) but it does seem to clear the pokies out of the passing lane.

I have MCB as well, and it doesn't draw attention. I was worried about the color being too loud initially, but it's not the case. Only ppl knows this car will look, others will just pass by thinking it's another blue 5 series. I like it.

I've done 3500 miles in the UK in my LCI MCB M5 and have been amazed at the lack of attention it gets - you get the occasional glances and the LED lights from nehind to tend to get people out the way. I use it for client visits etc and feel comfortable now driving it into their car parks. Only had attention from some M3 drivers wanting a race. Also My previous C63 definetly got more notice even though it was in gun metal grey and an estate!
However I've picked up work folks in it and the only thing they notice is when they get in and see the interior and extra bits and pieces - the silverstone interior adds a special feel/look imo. I had an f10 520d in white exterior / black interioir before the M5 and it definetly feels way more special in the M5. So if you want subtlelty go with MCB with black interior I say. Owning a white '89 UR quattro and 1978 911 you tend to know what attention feels is like
