2014 M6 CP vs a 900 hp GTR and a E46 M3 race car on slicks on track

So I just wanted to post my experience tracking my 2014 M6 CP ( SS catted DP's , Gruppe M intake, M performance exhaust , BMS + 3.5, PSS 275/295 ) on a scalding hot August day at my local track Roebling Road Raceway with Flat out Motorsports. The M5/6 get the it's too heavy , no feel , not nimble or fun enough etc all the time on this forum . I have a ton of experience on track in my dedicated supercharged Z4M on R comps at Roebling so I was looking forward to seeing how the M6 stacked up . Honestly I wasn't sure it would be fun on track vs my 3200 lb 525 hp Z4M going into things . I prepped it with SRF brake fluid and added some MoCool to my radiator and intercooler fluid to improve heat transfer ( usually worth ~ 8-10 degrees with 50/50 coolant mix Given the mid 90's high humidity conditions I was concerned the S63 TU especially tuned would heat soak and go into temp limp mode . To worsen things the fuel pump was down at the track so I had to run straight 93 octane . I was shocked that my oil temps never went over 250 during the 20 min sessions and I was hitting 150 GPS on the front straights regularly despite short shifting at 6500 to keep the EGT's down . I experienced no temperature limp mode or massive power loss at all and only had a couple high exhaust temp drivetrain malfunction error on the front straight (over 10 seconds full throttle through 4th and 5the gear ). This was easily avoided by shifting 500 rpm before redline in 4th and didn't have any issues in the hotter afternoon sessions . Race fuel might have prevented this but not worried as I'm not going to be doing 150 mph GPS 18 times in a row anywhere else lol . This video is me with a Lotus Exige , a 900 HP GTR with full aero , and a 2700 pound E46 M3 race car on conti slicks . As you can see the M6 held it's own very well . Most importantly though it was a shit ton of fun on track !!! The craziest thing is I was able to match my fastest street tire time in similar horrible conditions in my Z4 M track car . Here's my detailed review
1. Steering :
Extremely communicative when at the limit , I knew exactly what the front tires were doing . Sport mode was perfect balance between feedback and assistance. You appreciate weight and precision when braking from 150 and turning in at 100 mph into a fast corner .
2.) Brakes
I have the CCB 's and they performed flawlessly all day with zero fade and had massive bite and feel . I could have pushed my braking zones further but not worth the time saved since this was for fun . For those interested the track day took 10,000 miles off the front pads and 4,000 off the life of the rear pads in an advanced solo group ( service indicator photos below ) .
3. Engine
This was what I was most impressed with . Consistent brutal power all day , despite horrible conditions . Oil temps never exceeded 240's and no temperature related limp modes even in the 95 degree afternoon. sessions . Despite having a 8 mph handicap coming out of turn 9 going on to the front straight vs my 525 hp Z4M it exceeded my peak mph in similar conditions by 4 mph !
4. DCT
The DCT worked flawlessly in manual mode . It always responded instantly for up shifts and downshifts with perfect rev matches that allowed you to downshift even in corners .
5.
Suspension
The CP suspension was amazingly flat given the cars weight and allowed impressive lateral G's all day . ( was seeing 1.1G's on a regular basis in sport plus ) . The rear was extremely communicative and it was very apparent how much grip was available . The car is def set up to have understeer from the factory but it was no where near as severe as my Z4M when stock or my old E92 when stock . Obviously with you're right foot it transitions to throttle oversteer on command .
It loved the fast sweepers and only felt close to its 4195 pounds on weight transitions .
6. PSS tires
Given the conditions and my cars weight and power they did extremely well , I'm very pleased and once again assured these are the best tires for our cars on the street .

Great write up...thanks for taking the time to document. I had a similar experience this past weekend in my M5 at the Texas World Speedway, in 100-degree weather. Loved the car's performance in the heat and was impressed by its ability to break hard from 148 mph and settle into the first turn (great brakes and great tires). Needing only a wash, I continue driving it into the office every day. This awesome car is equally impressive on a city street as it is on the race track.

Have you considered getting the Dinan negative camber front control arms? Seems like they would help greatly on Roebling Road.

I am converting my supercharged Z4M into a full track prepped car so not really necessary for my DD . Honestly even with the camber arms it wouldn't be enough camber for Roebling on the front left . At least on the M6 you can switch out the A arm , not sure what people are going to do on the M3/4 as they have zero camber adjustability . A few shots of my Z4 M goodies including my new MCS 2-ways with 700 lb /900 lb springs and true rear coilovers .
