Safeguard Tire, Wheel and Ding Protection?

Dealer is offering this on a new M5, Safeguard Premier Ultimate Tire & Wheel Plus Dent & Ding and Windshield Repair, , does anyone have it?? It is different than BMW Tire & Wheel because it also covers Curb Rash to Wheels, Windshield Chips and Cracks,Paintless Dent and Ding Repair during the time of the contract, they will fix or replace, Dealer wants $1500 for 3 Years

$1500 sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Here in Canada, without the coverage, dealer charges $721/tire (of course you can get tires way cheaper elsewhere).

I would go with that myself but need to be careful though, sometimes 3rd party protection coverage can be tricky.

That sounds pretty expensive for tires.
I had a bad run last year and took out 2 tires and a rim. The rim was something like $1600 and the tires were about $550 each installed at the dealer. I could have got the tires independently for about $460 installed. The worst thing about the insurance route is that you have to wait for the dealer to use their supply chain for the tires. I could have got the tires myself in 3 days where as the dealer took almost 3 weeks and the rim was nearly a month. Despite the money savings I will not do the rim and tire insurance again due to the extensive down time.

That was about right, I had to wait 3 business days for a tire to arrive. However, if the replacement took place in Vancouver, it would be problem-solved-next day situation. Seriously I had no idea how that dealer stays in business for such long time by seeing their ridiculous rates they charge people. They, however, do benefit from being the only dealer in that particular area. Else, you need to cross the water.

I have it. Negotiated down to $1200. Replaced my windshield already. They will replace (not repair) tires for nails, incidental damage etc. For where I drive, easily worth the expense.

What kind of damage did your windshield have?

They will replace a windshield if you have a 'run' greater than 4 inches IIRC or anything that obstructs your line of sight. Chips will be repaired. I had a chip at the edge of my windshield that immediately 'ran' so they replaced it.

I believe that in Tx at least, BMW cannot directly offer windshield insurance but instead uses a 3rd party to sell a product that guarantees to strengthen your windshield and therefor if it fails, they can then repair/replace. So although the insurance was purchased through BMW, it is a 3rd party that guarantees the product.

At any rate, it was as simple as a phone call and a 3 hour visit to have mine replace w/ OEM glass.

Will they replace the windshield if it gets really pitted and has lots of chips?

That I don't know. Not sure if there is a limit to how many chips they allow. Read the fine print though, it's in there.

I have full glass coverage as part of my auto coverage. Since I have winter (not stock) tires on the stock rims and will have non-stock wheels on the stock tires, I would never get more than 50% coverage at any one time. Otherwise I would have considered it. of course, my dealer wanted $1,050/year and 2,300/5 years which seems ridiculous.

Wow! What I paid was for 3 years if coverage. A steal, really.

I just bought the safeguard coverage also, the premier, ding, wheel, windshield, tire warranty. I got 5 years for $1600

Interestingly I had a nail in the tire my very first week. I brought it into the dealer safeguard authorized the repair but because my dealer hasn't submitted the paperwork they told me to pay and they would reimburse me. Still waiting on this reimbursement. As long as it comes through I'm happy!
