what are the wheel bearing sizes, perhaps we could source them from a reputable bearing manufacturer?
i, didn't have this issue on the old m5 which had 12k miles. so far nothing on the new one either.

Spencer, something has to be wrong with the geometry in the front suspension that is placing undue stress on the front wheel bearings. To have one set needing replacement because of a manufacturing issue makes sense, but to then have the new ones also wear out when very few others have had this issue? Makes no logical sense to me at least. The regional rep needs to get involved here and a highly experienced 'M' tech needs to be looking at every component in the front end imho.

so my car started to get the same clicking noise that you guys are experiencing.
I have bout 8000 km on the car now.... guess I will have to take it in. thought it was my HRE wheels causing the noise issue but I am pretty sure its the same sound that all of you have been describing.

I just got mine and picked it up in Germany in May. Drove great over there but as soon as I brought it back I have had some issues. I had the clicking sound and took it in and they are replacing my bearings and I only have 2k on it....

I get the ticking noises when turning the steering wheel in either direction during slow speeds. Also, occasionally I will hear a metallic grinding sound when starting from a stop and just going straight. Does this sound like a wheel bearing issue to you guys?

Repair Denied for clicking
Guys and Gals,
I have had this clicking sound for several months. I originally dropped the car off and they ordered a couple kits to perform a TSB on the car. Got it back after completing one side and had to take it back again to complete the other. After two visits, it still clicked. I took it back a third time and the dealership (BMW of San Diego) recommended both front bearings be replaced along with both front rotors. PUMA denied repair. I picked the car up. I escalated the case to BMW of NA and they moved it up to their executive team to set up a review from a regional engineer. The engineer looked at the car this morning and says "normal", no repair required. How on earth can a $115K car tick like a 1986 camaro? It clicks at slow speed, it clicks and high speed and it clicks at medium speed. It clicks on the freeway onramps and it clicks at stoplights. It clicks on both sides anytime the car is moving and the wheel is turned. So 4 dealer visits and they will not repair it. I am pissed. I think this is my last BMW and we have owned more than a DOZEN of them. When I originally spoke to BMW NA the customer service guy said "I have never seen a list of cars this long". They took more than a month to get back to me and setup this visit. I would accept it as normal if they all did it. Complete BS. Am I out of line to be so frustrated with this? What would your next step be? [u2b]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNXD3317SYQ[/u2b] |
