M5 Trackdaze at VIR

I attended a Trackdaze even at Virginia International Raceway with my M5. It did well but I probably had too low tire pressure in earlier sessions. I had noticeable understeer compared to a previous track day. Increased tire pressures helped but it could be my well worn PSS tires too.

The bad news is my lap timer SW and GoPro didn't cooperate in later sessions but I got a decent video in my second session.

I definitely need more laps a VIR to get more comfortable pushing the car but I did well and I also hit 155 mph indicated on the back straight!!!

Note the speed seems to be stuck at times and lags a second or so here and there but its not bad...

See it here. EDIT: just a link, embedding isn't working.

Sweet video!

What was your run group and best time? I would love to know what time your best lap starts at.

Any issues with the heat? How did your brakes hold up? Stock pads? Stock brake fluids?

Some answers:

Fully stock except high temp brake fluid. I think its Castrol SRF.
No significant brake fade but slightly longer stopping distances at the end of a session.
No heat soak issues. Temp was 70-80s by mid day.

My best lap time that I could record was 2:25. A mentioned, I only got times the 1st 2 sessions. My video died 1/2 into the 3rd session too and first few laps had too much traffic for good lap times.

Could the car deliver better times, absolutely! Could I get better times, yes but I need more sessions, some no-traffic laps, and it had been 5 years since I was there, getting a 2:31 with an '08 550i.
I hope to go again this year and break into the teens. 2:19 I'd be real happy....

I was at the BMW Performance Center recently. Donnie Isley mentioned seeing 2:09 with a '15 M4.

The fastest GPS time shown by Harry's Lap Timer was 142 MPH and if I recall I was just at or under 150 indicated in the 2nd session. I hit the 155 indicated in the final session. So probably an 8 MPH speedo error.
