Delivery to different dealer than you purchased from? Cost?
So I am evaluating having the vehicle delivered to my local dealer in town.
However, I did not purchase from them and have been advised that there may be a prep/delivery charge (awaiting what that amount could be). I'm looking at this option since it is essentially Christmas before a PCD can be arranged (earliest date Dec 19th, not workable for me. 20th and 21st are full. So I have asked for the 24th - awaiting availability). Can anyone else who took this kind of delivery option (to a dealer you did not purchase through) tell me what their experience and expense was like? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks guys - $500 is pretty steep.
My CA managed to workout a pickup date for PCD that I can live with so I'm going to stick with that now. Looks like I am getting it on Dec 17th which is a Monday. cmhsam thanks for the offer. I'll take you up on it before it is over with... Same to you if you get down Alabama way! |

This time next Sunday I'll be dreaming about picking my car up in the morning!!!!
It will be all broken in, service done, and ready to be underwhelmed at 75-80 mph... :-) |

I left it with PCD... He was able to get me a Monday pickup date after a spot came free. Before it was going to be a Wednesday Dec 19 pickup date or after Christmas. The Wednesday pickup date (for me) at PCD destroyed a minimum of 4 days of vacation because of my Christmas plans. After Christmas was just too long to wait. That's why I started investigating the option of having it delivered somewhere other than PCD.
All is well that ends well. |

$500 seems to be the standard rate. Usually they do dealer prep - detail the car. The car is usually extremely filthy upon arrival. You could ask if they could not do the detail and have your own guy do it and they may cut the price further.

Sorry Stealth, perhaps it wasn't clear because of the progression of thread and topic. PCD is where I am (still) getting it because a pickup date that was workable for me and BMW was agreed upon.
Thanks for the input though about relative costing. |

I took my Dad when I did PCD on my 550i M-Sport. He really enjoyed it and he was amazed by the performance and stability of the car at the limit. He was always concerned by high speed cornering, but after the PCD he realized that we don't go anywhere near the real limits of these cars.
