Dark Side - King

Finally turned in my M5 but decided to get a 2018 M4, comp, exec, DCT, mineral gray metallic.

So far, I like the lighter feel and handling. Hard to say about the power delivery since it only has so few miles. May need to investigate the new flash tunes.

The new M5 might be in my future but will wait for the bugs to get worked out!

Great car, great color, enjoy!!! I did with my 16 for almost 7 months. A tune will open her up big time and be prepared to actually pull some M5's from a roll (not the F90).

I just had one issue and that was the sound and while the ZCP does fix most of it, it still gave me some heartburn. My thoughts of course.

How many ponies did you gain from the tune?

This is my car on the dyno- tune only on 91. Not stock F10 numbers but the car weighs much less.

And the gains in the usable rpm ranges are stout- these turbo cars dont sit at the higher rpm ranges like my R8 or GT3!

Thru the normal range there are gains of almost 100 tq and 80hp... thats meaningful.

King is King is King. Maybe you should just skip F90 (I'm probably skipping it too) and get new G82 M4 (New King) when that one comes out.

You still need the F90 for church and Home Depot. Normal daily driver stuff. King is when you want to hurt feelings.

Thank you for the kind words and advice! Quite honestly, this has been the most mature, respectful and good natured forum that I have ever been involved with.

These are truly exciting times to be a car enthusiast, especially with the advent of obd flash tuning availability.

King is King. Not a great car but good enough for 80K or so.
Although you will definitely miss the power of S63tu (still I'm missing) but there are many thing else worth to consider M4 as a replacement for M5/M6...
The most important thing is the handling and controllable(usable) power/torque especially with CP.
I can easily turn off DSC all day even in rainy days and still have full control on car.... The thing was nightmare with M6

But I'm sure many of us will have Gxx(M8) in two years

Not many message boards will be like this one. This little corner is non judgmental and just love cars. People here type as if they are talking to you face to face. Cool corner.

Let me ask you this question. I had DCT on my M6 and I know M4 has the same DCT. Comparing M4 to M5 since you have both experiences how DCT is working on M4 with respect to M5?
And I would like to know your experience with launching the M4 of course after break in period. Basically M5/M6 have much more torque but they are heavier too. I Believe with short gear ratio of first gear, you would have lots of wheel spinning right?

I’ll let you know as I soon get back into town and can drive the car again. My initial sense is that the dct will be similar; there are three dct settings just like the M5.

I believe you are right about the wheel spin at launch but I need to play around with the settings to get it figured out (and get a few more miles and get past the 1200 mile service).

The problem with King is that it is more of a Rodney King than a King of Kings.
