Please help with PP-Performance Stage 3 problem
I'm having strange issues with PP-Peformance Stage 3 kit in my M5F10.
Car config: 2013 M5 F10 Akrapovic Evolution Catless downpipes PP Performance Stage 3 (720hp) After 3rd gear car is starting to shoot into the exhaust and jerking @ about 6200rpm. Usually it happens in 4th. After all it falls in the limp mode. It shows drivetrain malfunction on the dash. When you read it with scanner it shows multiple cylinder misfires P0300 as well as other cylinder misfire codes P0301, P0302, P0305, P0308, etc. Changed the plugs and coils - same thing. Once it has thrown P0087 fuel system pressure low. Maybe a fuel pump? Or the fuel pressure sensor? |

Do you take your car to speeds in access of 240 km/h. That is when this problem starts to happen. I am getting a real custom made obd tune soon, we'll see if that helps. |

What was the last thing you changed before this happened ?
The ECU software ? That has to be your problem. Too many random codes. I would stop throwing parts at your car and re-flash your ECU to factory and see how it performs. |

M-bitious,
Did you already checked the K&N filter and the Air Mass Meter. If they have a lot of oil???? That was my problem, cleaned and changed the K&N filter. |

Thereafter I rise the boost to 6psi with race gas n it was alright till I try 7.5psi. While at 7.5psi with VP109 on 4th gear at about 6200rpm there was a power delay of about 1/2 a sec then it pull away strongly. After about 3 pulls n adaption it was alright till now. But I'm on 6psi daily with 80/20 meth n 1 bottle of +6Ron octane booster. Car run as strong as new. |

No but they thought it was because the K&N filter had to much oil. But cannot confirm this, also possible form the engine. My engine uses Oil, never checked on how much km. I think 3000km and then 1l oil. Why you ask? |

I have been told I need a newer version of the BMW software ISTA/P. Date needs to be higher than 9.2013. It seems related to the press files. I will try this soon to see if the problem goes away.
@igorsm Be aware that the press file will be overwritten and needs to be loaded again afterwards. Last edited by M-bitious; 08-17-2014 at 01:47 AM.. |

At the moment all tuned M5's run a better/more powerful BMW software, the press file, they used pre-release date of the car. Then tuners add 2 piggybags to increase boost etc, Since the press file never gets updated it looks like this can cause problems.

How about do some datalogging instead of guessing. Some of these piggy back tuner companies push it beyond the limits without having control over fuel or ignition.
Time to scale it down a notch and maybe learn how to properly drive these cars. Just my $0.02

You have probably followed M-Bitious and his M5 and know that he already has participated in GT Board races, Autobahn driving at high speeds etc. He probably knows very well how to properly drive the car... His problems started when the DCT speed limiter was removed. After those issues he/they have done extensive datalogging. That's why at least he knows a bit about the issues causing his misfire problems. |
