Ughhhhhhh... Summer 2018 for U.S. G30 M5. This makes me sad. I canceled my order for my 2014 because of my concerns as a Daily Driver in the north east with the snow we've had the past few years (We set the record for the most snow this past winter). So I've been dying for the AWD M5 to come out. Problem is my lease is up in March 2017... What to do, what to do....

The B&W system at $2500 seems like a steal!

Hope not

More psuedo-info.... I look forward to the new M5. To be honest, engine is the least of my concerns. The car has enough HP; its putting it all to use that is needed. It is lowering the weight that is needed. It optimizing the steering and suspension that is needed.

There will be a future CSL but it will embrace innovation and adapt new technology further than before.

If I'm being honest. I'm already not too excited about the next M5. It's going to take a while for me to get over them using the same exact engine from the F10, if that is indeed what they do. I'll be a little less disappointed if they use a different engine design but is still a Twin Turbo V8 or some sort.

Agree wholeheartedly! Putting all that power down is what will be key. The pseudo-AWD they're coming up with seems like a solution to that very problem. They do love and understand their cars as much as or more than us. Weight reduction will also be key. I also feel they can reduce external dimensions but keep the same wheelbase and width by reducing the overhangs. That should help in the stability and dynamic handling/maneuvering departments. Improving the steering seems like a hard problem and I wouldn't bet on significant improvements there. If they're motivated enough, hydraulic steering will be the way to do it. I doubt they will leave any potential options off the drawing board except for a compromise on the "safe" external design language.

Impossible. That would be taking a huge step back. 8 speed DCT-II if that is what you meant, but not AT.

When will we start getting solid info on the G30 M5 and time a table for US release?

My take is that it won't be electric hybrid this model but will see it for the next m5 variant.

Than the outgoing model.

Actually not. The outgoing 750i (xDrive) is reported ~4750 lb (US models) while the new one is reported ~4600 lb and this is based on most popular packages for US customers. I believe base to base comparison, the new 7 series is much lighter than the outgoing one

I hope you're proved right on a weighbridge.
