I just made a phone call to a local Dinan authorized dealer and got a quote. The price here in Canada with all the November promotion discount would be roughly $4500 cdn after taxes and installation.

M5 Dinan Exhaust Vs. BMW/Akrapovic M Performance Exhaust

I currently have an F10 (2014) BMW M5 with the competition package. I'm trying to determine if the BMW/Akrapovic M Performance Exhaust (@ about $ 9K) is worth the investment versus the soon to be released Dinan M5 exhaust (@ about $ 4K. My BMW service advisor doesn't believe the Dinan exhaust will be much of an improvement over the Competition Package exhaust but the guys at Dinan believe otherwise. I traded in my Maserati GT/MC (2013) last year....really loved the exhaust/engine note. Any opinions on the subject? :

The BMW MPE is made by Akra.

When you buy an Akra exhaust, your paying for the quality.

The MPE can be put into your lease payment, and it's also covered under warranty. If these two factors mean anything to you.

The tips of the MPE are different than the Akra. So you should decide which one you like better.

I haven't seen or heard DINAN exhaust in person. I did have a DINAN E60 M5 before my F10 M5 though. DINAN was known to make the least loudest exhaust.

I personally decided to go with the Akrapovic (carbon tips). If I want it louder, I can always pair it with headers (such as supersprint or AMS).

I like the sound of my Akra. In sport plus throttle if you let off the gas suddenly or accelerate upon downshift you hear a nice blip. You don't hear the exhaust very well inside of the car due to the amount of sound insulation. I had someone drive my car while I stood outside and it sounded very nice.

It's really personal preference and depends on what you want.

Truth is, while Akra sounds much better than stock, it's not much louder than stock. Actually it might be the same decibel as stock.

If you want something louder than stock but nothing crazy loud.. then I would recommend the Eisenmann sport. Paired with the AMS DP's they change the car completely. Quality of eisenmann is second to Akra. Eisenmann is also much cheaper than Akra.

I was not impressed by the DINAN exhaust video. I personally would choose Akra or Eisenmann before the DINAN exhaust.

We did an installation of a Dinan F10 M5 exhaust on a local custome's car and it sounded awesome! Really brings out an aggressive exhaust note without being overly loud. It gives off an awesome sound the moment the valves open. I'll see if I can have my customer make some sound clips of his new setup.

Just talked with the local Dinan guy-

dinan exhaust again on sale until end of February 15% off from list. ($3399)

he also mentioned ECU upgrade coming soon but no specs mentioned. supposedly the Dinan car has been chipped.
