pix

Just posted a couple of pix (check album) of the last two vehicles that I installed the low dust Carbotechs. I posted the pic of my wife's GC SRT8 because it also has six piston Brembos. I will post a few more tomorrow.

bm5built,
Did you turn your rotors, or do anything to clean them prior to installing the Carbotech pads? I spoke with Mike from Carbotech today, and he was very helpful. He explained there is a lot of benefit to lightly turning the face of the rotors to remove old dust and contamination; otherwise it can take weeks or months for the dust to be cleared.

I'm anxious to try them - I ordered front & rears directly from Carbotech, and will be putting them on my wife's X5 also.

Techworks - I did clean/scuff the rotors with a 30 grit 3M Roloc disc. But Mike is right about taking 1 to 3 months to get them clean. I installed them on my wife's/mine previous F10 535's and her current SRT8 and the squeaking did not go away for a few weeks. Have you taken a good look at the M rotors? I don't know if these can be turned (floating rotors?).

Any update on your experience with the Carbotech pads? How is braking power? has it eliminated the on and off brake squeal?

I don't care about dust, but reducing occasional squeal would be great.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Carbotech pads.
The braking power is identical, the squeal is about 99 % gone (have not heard it in about two weeks, come to think about it) and the dust on the front wheels is about 2/3 less than the OEM pads. There is one hitch - the OEM F10 pad is UNIQUE and this is the reason that no other pad makers have a pad for our car except a track pad. Carbotech gave me a choice once we found this out - go back to the OEM pad or send in my OEM pads so they could put the OEM silencer shims on their pads which is what I did.

Carbotech says that they are going to laser cut a new backing plate just for the F10 M. Stealth, you can call Mike Jr. at Carbotech and ask if they have the new pad out yet. Either way, I would not trade my pad for the OEM at any price, just for the low dust part alone.

I went with Cool Carbon front and Akebono rear pads. I know a few others have done the same and all feedback was positive. Dust is significantly less and no brake squeal. Shop said they all fit good and they reused my OEM sensors. I had all my rotors replaced at the same time also.

Have the carbotechs for a while now. The dust is definitely lower, but I do feel I have to press the pedal more to get feedback from the brakes.

Car stops perfectly; I feel zero drop-off in comparison to the OEM pads and minimal brake dust.

I ordered them from a local tuner that's done work on my car; readily available just do a search.

You may be able to get Cool Carbon for F&R. I believe they were on backorder when I tried.
