I've been using the ieGeek wifi dongle. With the iPhone I didn't think it was possible to use a BT dongle. But, I'll check yours out.

After reading this thread, I ordered a LELink Bluetooth ODB dongle from Amazon for $35 to try with the ODB Fusion App. Thanks to Amazon same day shipping, it should be here this evening. I'll report back on how it works. I didn't want the WiFi version and I know the iPhone can support multiple bluetooth connections at once.

Also, the delays between WiFi and BT shouldn't matter in terms of one being faster than the other. BT and Wifi have way more than enough bandwidth. I suspect the transmission rate is determined by the chipset not the wireless protocol

I have yet to find a way to connect multiple bluetooth devices to my iPhone (and have them both be active) at the same time. If you have found a way to do this, please let me know.

I'm not sure you can tell the iPhone 6 when to make multiple BT active connections happen. I connected my LELink BT scanner tonight and I could still stream music to the stereo via BT while also having my dashboard up in ODB Fusion. At the same time my iPhone also was connected to my Apple Watch and my Escort Max360 radar detector via BT. That's 4 active connections.

Now that I have this scanner I'm eager to see what default values you guys find so I can configure mine properly. Pretty neat stuff for $45 ($35 scanner + $10 for app)

I also have the dash command app. The digital numbers shown are the max values. Honestly, you can play with that value all you want to skew the numbers. I just wanted it to be somewhat close to accurate.

I still think the M5 is underrated at 575bhp.

It's all in the chipset and refresh rates. Not all BTs/Wifis are created equally unfortunately, some have the new ELM chipsets while these Chinese knock offs have outdated ones.

How did you come up with this number? The tips say a value between .5 and .6 is typical for forced induction and .3 and .4 for diesel.

The tips for volumetric efficiency says it's an important number if your vehicle doesn't have a mass airflow sensor or you are using the "intake manifold absolute pressure " for fuel intake calculations. This makes me wonder if it even needs to be adjusted.

Basically by trial and error and testing. I don't think this app would every be capable of replacing a dyno so I just wanted it to show something close.

Agreed. I guess my question is how do you know your trial and error numbers are correct since you don't have a known correct value(s) to compare against?

Also, any reason you use Dash Command over OBD Fusion?

Well, I started with the default numbers and then increased it to 0.60 per the tip on the menu. Under full throttle acceleration I was only seeing about 310bhp so I figured that something was off.

I started emailing back and forth with the Technical Service Manager at my dealership and he said that the actual value was not something they had. He said it would either have to come from BMW Engineering or a vendor like Dinan.

He followed up with an email saying he was trying to calc the number manually and was coming up with something in the 20-35% range. From there I just started making slight adjustments until I was seeing something close to 575 for max hp under full load.

As to the choice between DashCommand and OBD Fusion...

I started with Dash Command a while back because I liked the performance options (0-60 times, 1/4 mile stuff, etc.). Also, there are a lot of custom made dashboards that you can download.

When I couldn't find a F10 M5 dashboard I started looking around and 13M5F10 recommended OBD Fusion. Right now I am alternating between both apps.

I like the graphics of Dash Command better, but I like the functionality of OBD Fusion better.

Do your numbers line up for Instant Fuel Economy?

From what I gathered, boost, HP, torque are derived values, not SAE PIDs. I was driving today and I noticed my instant fuel economy value was WAY off from what the on board computer said and what I know is accurate. The onboard would read in the 15-20mpg range while the app said 40+. I was using Volumetric Efficiency of 65 and your Brake Specific Fuel Consumption of .25.

With number so far off for instant fuel economy, I have to wonder what is accurate because clearly some value(s) is throwing off their math...

I haven't looked at the mpg calcs, but my guess is that they aren't right. Basically, I am using this app like a toy with not much credibility in the outputs.

That's why I just use the PIDs that are being read off the engine. I don't trust anyone's calculated PIDs.
