Graduation Day -BMW M5
So tomorrow is a big day! I'm graduating from a 335i 2009 coupe to a 2014 M5 with competition package, pretty much loaded sans the ceramic brakes (original MSRP $115k) I have spent hours researching this vehicle and wanted to come to the fine members of this forum one last time before sealing the deal tomorrow.
I am buying a 2014 with specs above and 14,500 miles on it. It's a CPO elite vehicle and it has factory warranty through 5/28/18 with an extended CPO warranty thru 5/29/19....after that I'm on my own. I'm paying $61k for the vehicle. So my questions I would love some help with are: 1) think I got a good deal? I feel strongly I have as there are very few with comp package and this mileage out there. 2) any issues I should be aware of? I have read only of turbo coolant line issues and it seems the service records point to this. I plan To have a chat with service manager tomorrow. 3) recommend purchasing extended CPO warranty beyond that? It's pricey at $6k for additional 2 years 4) they offered to extend my maintenance program another year for $2k so it's co-terminus with my 2019 CPO elite.....any thoughts on that? Car fax is clean with one owner. Vehicle was orignally leased and put up for sale now by the same dealer so it's been cared for. I am hoping all of my due diligence has paid off but I could certainly be missing something. Pic of full service record attached. Looking forward to being a contributing member of this forum very soon!!!!!! Last edited by ctbmw09; 08-07-2017 at 11:15 PM.. |

congrats on the upgrade, it's quite a big one.
but shouldn't you have asked these q's before? lol anyway, 61k not bad.. car is pretty robust, 13's were problematic for a few folks. Leave it alone, no need to go teething around touching shit that doesn't need to be touched. Car is fully covered. So just hop in and start beating it. depends on how long you plan on keeping the car. 2k for a year doesn't sound bad, thats a set of rotors. lol |

Most likely the way he described. I was looking at this one on auto trader but it was recently pulled off from their website. It was listed at 62k with elite. I was going to ask OTD of 57k after looking at recent auction prices. |

Hey ctbmw09, can you let us know how this all turns out and what you ultimately think of the car, etc? I'm also in CT and have seen there are a few 12,000 - 17,000 mile 1-owner (lease returns) of 2014 M5's at dealers nearby that I've similarly been eyeing. Thanks in advance.

I "speculate" additional 5 to 7% once it comes out. It will be buyers market in about a couple of months. I was told by a few that I need to hold off on buying until f90 is launched so that is what I am going to do but it is hard as heck as I want to buy one today, right now!!

$61k for that 14k miles is a good deal. I sold mines to a friend for $57k with 25k miles. I figured without CPO, which costs an additional 6-7k, is a fair price. CPO at dealerships for cars under 30k miles is anywhere between 62 to 67k. I feel like I could have sold it for more, but what's a few thousand to not have to deal with someone lowballing you.
Can't wait for my '18 991.2 Carrera S - EPA holding all '18s U.S. bound for CARB inspection and not release them from port.

Interesting they replaced the rear brake pads at 14,600 miles....I just did my rears at 49k miles......
Enjoy the car they are great machines to drive and are great being driven sedately or at full tilt.....you "will" have fun!

I graduated from a 08' e90 335 that i still miss 10 months on. one thing that amazes me is how well this car corners compared to the e90 with zsp. was Looking at a new 535 but ended up with a 14' m5. glad i did. I would die of boredom with the 535.
