It's actually very easy to take the center console apart. I've done it on both the E60 M5 and the F10 M5 before. Yeah I have my reservations about Ebay. I'm guessing ECS Tuning will have it, they have most everything on there. I haven't looked yet though.

Turner Motorsports has it too for sale. I am going to see if I can get it through a friend from BMW direct

If you do this update with the touch controller to a 2013, and code the car with the newest software, is there any missing functionality vs. the 2014+ models?

I'm considering a CPO 2013, and this looks like a nice retrofit.

Eventually managed to get required information as I cannot retrofit LCI I drive controller to a 2012 early model without using an emulator ..luckily found a local person who can do the required work..

Purchased the newer LCI controller some time ago but doesn't have the surrounding trim..

Apologies about picture quality

As can be seen replacement LCI I drive controller has no trim

Does anyone who has done retrofit confirm if trim from NON LCI can be removed and fitted unto LCI one

Your existing center console/trim will also work with the LCI controller
They are the same size (base) , just the know is larger

Does anyone know the part numbers for the connectors? I'm thinking about doing this, but I'd like to make a harness instead of hacking up the vehicle wiring.

Or if you know anyone who makes/sells a harness, that would work too.

I actually found a vendor on eBay who sells a retrofit harness all made up. About $20 US from Eastern Europe.

A lot better than hacking into the wiring.
