Clutch Smelling Hot Coming Up Drive?

Hey all, new F10 owner here, took delivery Thursday (2014 Alpine/Blk Comp). I'll post some pics when the weather breaks here in Indy.

One quick question: When I pull up my (gently uphill) driveway there is an almost campfire-like smell from the car as I step out. I do creep in pretty slowly given the new car/small garage combo. Is this normal/abnormal/a sign of operator error with the DCT?

Need a bit more info...any warnings on your screen? Recent oil change or maintenance? Could be something else, but you shouldn't have any kind of burnt smell.

Since the clutches are wet, I don’t think you can smell them (particles)

I don’t think this is operator error nor is it normal to have a burning smell coming from the car. Some light smell from the brakes after some spirited driving is normal but certainly not a camp fire.

I would say take it to dealer or wherever you purchased the car to ensure this is nothing serious.

Good Luck.

Do you smell it before you hit the hill?

I likely need a bit more data, but the smell has been less the last couple of drives. I haven't pulled aside and checked at any other time but will report back.

Maint records do not show anything recent, though a 2200mi hauler ride (car was completely coated in a light layer of oily fluid or diesel exhaust) and likely who knows what was used for an engine detail could be factors if it smells bad outside the driveway.

My concern was something with my driving habits and the DCT. The weather here is pretty rough so I'm not driving it as much as I'd like.

After about 20 drives the smell is no longer present. At this point I'm guessing the car was cooking off some engine detailing supplies used in prep for the sale.
