As Mike said above, I'm running his stage II tune and catless downpipes. All mods are listed in my sig below.

My SA is aware of all of my mods but BMW NA is not. I'll be purchasing an extended warranty soon and if BMW agrees to it, then I'm pretty sure that there are no 'flags' - or more probably Mike's tune hides everything extremely well.
nice. makes me feel better. Going to feel out my SA tomorrow morning when I bring the car in for service and just be straight up with him.

btw your signature doesn't show on the app

you might be fine for now, but I guarantee you, in case of catastrophic failure, bmw will do their homework on your car before they fix anything

I am completely aware of that, as they would with any car. I'm talking about the 'sky is falling thread' about getting flagged and them refusing everything - which is not true.

If it breaks, I'll rebuild - better, stronger, faster.

Here is my question. I have owned a lot of performance cars...GTR, C7Z06, SL63 AMG, blah blah blah....

They all have a sticky thread about a primary flaw that would make you second guess modding. With the GTR it is the Transmission, with the SL63 it was head bolts, with the Z06 it was overheating.

Other than the clutches being weak, what item makes F10 M5 owners scared to mod even at an entry level?

I second that. these engines and drivetrains are solid as long as you maintain properly and don't go overboard with the power (700whp/700wtq) with stock clutches and axles

700whp / 700wtq is on the high side IMO if you want to preserve clutches and axles. A lot will depend on your driving / racing style; dig racing will accelerate wear on both clutches and axles.

Yup, agreed. I was giving those numbers as an example of what would be too high

For me, it might see the track one time to see what it will do in the quarter. Blasts on backroads from 20mph up. Maybe launched from a dig 4 times a year. I am more of a waxer than racer

Lemme ask this.

If I put catted AMS downpipes on my car with no tune, they can't void warranty unless they can prove it caused the problem correct?

Or will they see the DPs and immediately yell "NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Legally speaking the have to prove that the issue is related to the mod before denying warranty. However, I've seen dealers deny service if there is a CEL present due to a mod. Stupid

Coming from the world of LS Motors then onto a GTR, I don't understand why Headers and Downpipes are such a big deal.
