Downpipes and Warranty
I just installed Catless downpipes and want to take my car in for the driveshaft recall. My car has a few years left on the new car warranty and then I have CPO on top. I just want to make sure, does anyone know for a fact, that I will be ok bringing the car in for recalls and service without screwing up my warranty, as long as the issue is not associated with exhaust/turbos?
I just want to make sure I dont bring it in and they make a note that the downpipes were altered and it screws up my warranty in the future. Last edited by SakM_5; 08-15-2016 at 12:23 PM.. |

I think it's going to depend on your dealer and their views on it. At the end of the day, dealers get paid to do warranty work but some take less risks that others. I've always heard axel back (basically muffler add/delete) is safe, but anything else is at the discretion of your service team. I'm not sure you're going to get a concrete yes or no short of calling your dealer and asking them. Even then, if things get out of control and say you bring your car in and it needs a whole new motor or something major, BMW NA will probably get more involved and they could turn you down even if your dealer goes to bat for you.
my 2 cents. |

Would clear faults before taking it in so they don't see a CEL.
