Error this morning?

Started car this morning and immediately got this error:

Drivetrain Malfunction:

Drive moderately. Maximum drivetrain output not available. Consult service center.

It was really rough idling for about 30-45 seconds and then it seemed fine after that?

I did the teleservice thing, but no phone call yet?

Anyone have similar ever happen? I dread the service center.

Had the same issue with my car this last Friday. I was stranded on the side of the road for 2hrs waiting for a tow truck. Got a call on Monday from my dealer and apparently i had ran out of gas, but the sensor which indicated fuel level was still at 1/2 tank (bad sensor). They are replacing the entire fuel tank since the senor is inside the tank and cannot be replaced.

I've read that this warning can be related to several issues, including misfires, bad spark plugs, faulty fuel pumps, gas tanks (mine lol). So the best advice i can give you is to take it into your dealer asap for a checkup. Last thing you need is to be stranded somewhere like i was

Good luck!

I had brake system failure and TC failure come up last week, stopped and started the car and it went away.

Plenty of ghosts in the machine.

Sensor issue on mine last summer - dealer fixed and all good. seems to be a recurring design issue on M5's as I had a similar poblem when I had the E60 M5.

Happy to report that since that morning when I made the post, no other issues. No rough idle, nothing. So, perhaps it was a one time thing. Maybe they can read a code when I bring in for 1200 mile.

Hi. I had this last week... turned out to be bad sparkplug. New set and all good.

Cheers
