Isn't it where the bluetooth module lives?

Hmmm..that link is interesting. When my roof was painted they had to take the headliner out to remove the shark fin.

Held on with adhesive (same one on the windshield - urethane). So, you need to slowly cut around it (with a knife) until it lets go.

The Bluetooth module does not live there; however the "clip-in cell phone" in the center console does output RF (Radio Frequency) from there.

At the estimate phase of the M5 roof painting my paint shop wasn't sure if they would have to move the headliner to access the antenna cover. They didn't and that saved about an hour on the labor. Did you see the headliner removed?

Yeah but I don't pay them hourly rate. It is a super high-end shop that does most of the exotics here in town and I'm buddies with the owner (fortunately).

I pinch pennies when I'm able, so I watch the small stuff. From what I've seen of your posts you don't need to be overly concerned with the details. I won't ever be in that situation unfortunately. I'm sure that ///M Atlanta badge has been in your signature for a while, but just noticed it......very nice! Does a dealership use that or is it from some other source?

It is held on with adhesive. No need to drop the headliner. I had my roof wrapped I black vinyl and watched the installer remove and reinstall mine.

The shark fin is held the same way as the e90 from the link above. We used a heat gun to melt some of the adhesive. Be carefully with the heat gun though as it gets hot and you don't want to ruin the paint or fin. We also used nylon pry tools to help pry the fin off. It took us over an hour to remove it since we were being cautious.

Oh no. I am conscious of the pricing. I know the owner well and he does stuff cheap for me and I still negotiate the price!

Actually, I just added the M-Atlanta and pics in the sig. Thx for the compliment. M-Atlanta is just our local club of guys and girls with M cars old and new (same as the members-young and old). Lots of fun!

Very informative! Thank you guys! I will let you know how it goes. I'm planning on wrapping my roof with gloss vinyl (to match the sunroof) hopefully next week. The car is AW/BLK. I'm curries to see how it will look in person. I do like the pics I've seen so far.

Best,

Ugh...DON'T wrap it! Spend the extra and have it painted. I went that route on my SS and I ended up peeling the wrap right off. The problem is that no matter what anyone says and no matter what kind of wrap you use (I do very high end stuff on my cars only) you can tell it is wrap (if you know anything about mods). Sure the average Joe may not but if you pay any attention, you can see that the finish is nowhere close to the OEM gloss black trim. Visually, matching matte and gloss on trim doesn't usually work so well. It is ok to go mate on things like wheels, etc. but IMO I would not have contrasting trim pieces. Also-no worries about peeling or tiny imperfections in corners or under that fin (I am a perfectionist-even the slightest hints, like very very tiny corner folds drive me nuts). Spend the little extra amount and paint it properly. MASSIVE difference when mine was done. You look from the front and rear of the car and it REALLY just "flows"with the car-especially if you have tint. The rear glass makes it look really nice.

I think I'm with you on this one! I don't think that wrap will do the trick to my likening.

I might just paint the fin black and leave the rest of the roof originaal AW. Sort of like Hamman white F10.

I'm also thinking about painting my door handles all black, again like on Hamman. I think it'll give my car a more aggressive look and just right touch. Thoughts?

I already painted rear trunk spoiler and mirrors gloss black. Waiting on the RPK front lip and rear defuser /w challenge fin insert from IND (Thanks you Nate for an excellent service all around!!)

So all in all I think it should come together clean and neat.

You guys let me know what you think.

Btw, I would love to see a picture of your car. Please share.

I get what you are saying but I have to tell you that I really HATE the HAMANN on the F10. I think this was sort of the general consensus. The F10 is just far too classy. I went with body color paint on the door handles and the IND blackout kit (gloss) and painted the mesh in the grill vents body color as well. Roof all black including fin. You can see my list of mods above.
I prefer more subtle accents of CF and gloss black.

Dont wrap your roof... paint it. I had a terrible experience with wrapping:

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=818478

Also, my headliner was dropped in the process. Not a big issue if your dealing with a meticulus operator.

The best BMW colour to use is 'Jet Black'

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Craig

Nah, just find a good wrap shop. I've had mine on for the better part of a year. Looks great and it's removable if I change my mind.

If you look at the 3rd picture down on my car you'll see what I mean about how the paint really flows right into the back window. And it matches the gloss trim perfectly. IMO it is absolutely perfect visually.
