New 5 series full pictures and interior

I think it looks kinda too much like the 7 and 3..

Let's hope BMW does not become like Mercedes with every model looking the same just in S,M,L or XL..

It will be officially unveiled tomorrow by BMW. I am just waiting to see how much bigger it is than the F10 and how much lighter.

You just got your official unveiling right there. It doesn't get any grander than that
All other unveilings are secondary to this.. lol

Yeah dude I already saw this yesterday over on the G30 forum. I even wrote up a short synopsis on it. That's why I am more interested in the numbers than what it looks like right now. I do want to see more interior shots though. I do fear that that the area around where the cupholders are, is a step backwards in design though. We'll see tomorrow.

It's difficult to really gauge dimensions from photos; with that said I'm not digging the rear at all especially the exhaust at the tips.

Car seems a bit slimmer and exudes a bit of an "import" feel that I'm not vibing at all; does not feel like I'm looking at a 5 Series BMW but more a Lexus or Mazda.

I'm hoping this changes once I get to see one in person or have some more pictures.

No wow factor, and the key is the M treatment that always spices up the car. If it does not improve the overall appearance Panamera GTS here I come which has a gorgeous cabin. I'm trying my best to hold on to BMW!

I mean.... We all knew it was going to look like that... Its pretty uninspiring design... But I'll reserve final judgment until I see it in the flesh.

Uggh I hate the pop up(looking) screen style of the I Drive. It looks so out of place in the middle of the dash. Give me a screen that is intergrated into the dash any day.

I read the write up in the Nov Car mag - height & wheelbase increased by 10mm (presumably standard car), 32mm wider & 36mm longer - more headroom/legroom 10l more bootspace, 0.22 Cd -10% improvement & wait for it.... "kenaf" (WTF) boot lining resulting in 500g weight saving.

Here's hoping it looks a lot better post LCI !

> 4000lb for the V6 with xdrive... guess the V8TT or s63tu equivalent with xdrive should be around 4200lbs unless they do major weight reduction on the M platform.

Good that it grew and didn't get fatter... but doesn't seem like its a big difference to the F10 other than the technology items. Wonder if the turbos are the same :-)

I like it. Very sporty. Interior looks great.

I already told my dealer to put in an order for me for European Delivery of the M550i XDrive. I think my wife will like this car. 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. Hope I can order it in a red similar to Porsche's Carmine Red.

I have a feeling that because the G30 is like the iPhone7 in the exterior looks department, with seemingly minor improvements, that M Division is really going to be more aggressive with the styling for the next M5.

Now to just wait about another 6-12 months for the next generation 6-Series to be unveiled.

By the way, I'm now very skeptical that M Division is going to drop enough weight off of the G30 to make a big enough difference, if they do they'll need to get drastic.

Here's my post over in the G30 section about size and weight.

http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1313500&page=5

Not unless they do the following at a minimum:

- Carbon Fiber Trunk
- Carbon Fiber Roof (We already know this will be featured though)
- Carbon Fiber Hood
- Carbon Fiber Door Panels (all 4 doors)
- Carbon Fiber Driveshaft (We should expect this, because the M3 has it)
- Lighter exhaust system
- Lighter Suspension and Subframe components made out of aluminum instead of steel
- Lighter Engine Block somehow

Like I stated in the other forum, I can't see right now that the next M5 will be any more than 250lbs lighter than the F10 M5, given that the G30 540i is only 110lbs lighter than the F10 535i.

Then again, with the competition not focusing on weight reduction at all, at least for Mercedes, maybe a 250lbs weight reduction will be enough to beat out the competition. After all, even the new 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo is heavier than the F10 M5.

I agree that it won't be much lighter. The M540i XDrive saves 135lbs over the previous model.

The M5 would save same unless they go heavily into CF panels.

That said if the M550 is doing 0-60 in 3.8, then the M5 with an extra 140hp is going to be amazingly quick.

Also don't discount the impact of 4 wheel steering on agility. The Nissan GTR is heavy but with AWD and 4 wheel steering it can really carve corners. Same with the new Panamera Turbo.

I have been saying forever that manufacturer's claim of weight loss is never as great as they claimed. They always find ways to add it back with more safety protection or with options like the new massage seat option

However, M5 will be faster than ever, I'm sure that's something BMW won't falter on.

Agreed. Especially with the Panny Turbo having that space shuttle computer in it for dynamic control. Lol!

Weight reduction aside, I just can't see my self driving an even bigger car without a family. At some point these size increases just have to stop right? It's getting to be too much I feel.

If I was you I would just buy the 911 TTS. I really love mine.

My only interest in this 5 series is for the wifey. I need a big safe car with autonomous safety features for her.

I have my eye on a next gen 911 or the next gen M6 if they make it smaller and lighter than the F13.

Ditto!

That toast screen looks like an after-thought! I staying with the F10 for about 4 years or so. I'll prolly go i8 or something. Saw an Alpine White i8 with black trimming at Passport being delivered - it was stunning to say the lease,....I mean stunning!!
