Damn! What a pity! I've come to adore the carbon roof on the M3, so naturally I thought it would cross over to the M5. Oh well.

Having carbon fiber roof on the M5 will preclude having a moonroof as that will degrade the structural stabilty of the roof. You have to know that any carbon fiber element is just made up of sheets of carbon fiber glued together. The whole sheet is structurally strong and light, but cutting a hole in the middle to put a moonroof will make that element no stronger than a cardboard sheet (an exaggeration but you get the picture, right). I would prefer to have a moonroof around an aluminum frame which the 2013 M5 will have.
