More aggressive mods
As I am getting closer to my European Delivery, the brain starts working and I am considering exploring the mod area.
- full exhaust with no resonators maybe even muffler deletes (my favorite e39 m5 mod) - or electronic exhaust cut out with the o2 simulator - catless dowpipe - tune - meth injection - upgraded intercoolers Anyone explored the last 5? I am really curious and I am guessing people are too afraid of loosing their warranty, but it's worth asking.

I wouldn't do tune or inter coolers unless either BMW or Dinan offer them due to warranty concerns.

335d was one of my best cars ever!
IMHO you are nuts to even touch the F10 m5 engine apart from exhausts....so insanely complex and excellent....who needs more power? Cheers stu

two years ago I parted with my long time race car project, 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse awd turbo that eventually dynoed 660 wheel horsepower on a awd mustang dyno and did 9 seconds quarter mile. Every time I drove the car it would make my knees shake, my heart stop and my blood boil. I miss that feeling and I believe with the right tire/suspension combo and feathering the gas pedal you can have a nice 1/4 mile time on hte F10. I guess this is what floats my boat.

Other tunes/tuners are at the same risk , it just depends how hard your dealer is looking and which events the car/DME is logging . Once the car is connected to the diagnostic system there's a good chance the data is sent to BMW HQ and the dealer has no influence over what gets sent etc ...

Yes but Dinan has its own warranty and it is executed through BMW-Dinan dealers. So it's not the same as a factory warranty, but it is very close. I have confidence in it.

There is a good description of how Dinan describes their warranty coverage here.

I wouldn't mess with the air to water intercoolers..It's one of the reasons we don't have much lag, less piping and more consistent temps

Cooling is not a big issue on these cars. BMW M over engineered it from the cooling aspect. The air to water intercoolers are much larger than that of the 550i. There are plenty of radiators and even under track conditions, no issues with overheating with the exception of the brakes at the end of an extended 20 minute session at the end of the day.
tune is great, hi-flow cats/downpipes would be good mods but you need the dp fix which I don't believe anybody has yet. Meth would be interesting from a plumbing perspective and nobody has a meth tune yet. |
