Sudden loud traffic updates - how to limit audio level?

Hi, so this annoying issue keeps occurring and I think I need help.

I mostly listen to Spotify/YT through my iPhone BT connection, which requires me to keep the system audio level high as lower car volume is too low for the BT stream but the same volume level for the DAB would be really loud (not sure why). Almost on a daily basis the BT audio stream is interrupted by traffic updates which are EXTREMELY loud, almost to the point of deafness! I then lower the traffic update volume to a more tolerable level but the next time it's back to loud again. If the traffic update volume can be separately set, just like the navigation guidance volume, why does it change every time? Is it somehow relative to the BT audio level? Is there a way to permanently set it to an acceptable level? Am I missing some setting that I have yet to discover?

Thanks!

That’s based on the navigation application on your phone. I muted mine completely because of this too.

Which navigation app specifically? I only use in-car navigation and I assumed the traffic updates are from the car's system as they are snippets of radio broadcasts.

Ah then I’m not sure. I assumed you use your phones navigation.

depending on the maps app you are using you can adjust the guidance volume in them. if you are talking about built in navigation dont think so

I was facing the same issue and I decided to deactivate traffic updates from the navigation screen. There's no other way.

I was afraid of this, kinda hoped there was another way.

I can definitely relate as I remember the traffic announcements scared the s*** out of me and was trying to find the buttons to deactivate while driving

"How can I adjust the volume of traffic reports in my BMW?

In your BMW, you can completely deactivate the interruption of the current audio playback due to current traffic reports with increased volume. To adjust the volume of traffic reports, turn the volume control button on the audio operating unit, centre console or steering wheel to the right for louder or to the left for quieter in your BMW during a traffic report, depending on the model, production date and equipment. Depending on the equipment of your BMW, you can also change the volume by voice or gesture control. Please note: The volume of traffic reports is reset to the default setting before each journey."

Thanks for sharing this, it is exactly what I've been doing but after seeing this information you shared I guess the correct question is: how do I reduce the default volume level for traffic reports?

Good question. This could be something (and I am purely speculating here) the dealership could do, by altering some parameters by way of coding.

Or alternatively you could try your luck by further searching on this forum for the coding-geniuses who are aware of every single setting.

Good luck!
