What a great review, very honest and straight to the point and no bias. I love both of those cars and I would have both if I could. Because like he said, one is better for everyday but one is seriously faster. And the price point, feel, horsepower and idea is what make both comparable yet so different. I love them. Great job Chris Harris!

I've always been a big Chris Harris fan.
His insights are insightful and complex.

Yes, on first glance it does look like a crazy comparison, but as he points out, they really are very similar. The twin turbo grunt and twin clutch transmissions form the soul of both cars. They are at a similar price point now, and it is quite possible that someone could be shopping both cars. In my case, I am definitely very seriously considering getting the F10 M5 myself to go along with my 2012 GT-R. I personally am VERY EXCITED by the direction of the new M cars, since I have become completely addicted to the massive torque and low end horsepower and if I can have that in an M5 with the higher level of refinement then that sounds like a clear winner to me. Having to wind an engine up to 8000 RPM to get any kind of performance was exciting to me the first few times, but no longer (I have a 2011 E90 M3 daily driver so am all too familiar with that).

I also liked the fact that he ridiculed the comparing the GT-R to a video game. Some reviewer said that early on, and that same old tired cliche keeps getting repeated ad nauseum usually by people who have never driven the car.

Excellent review, and it has pretty much guaranteed that I will be looking at the F10 M5 to replace my E90 M3 when it is available here.

The new M5 is very refined as a performance car and saloon. It's got a nice edge and the design of the interior dashboard, seats and center console is very very elegant.

"Are they rivals, not really. Is the GT-R faster? Yes. Would you rather live with the M5 every day? Yes."

Good share. I've never seen that before. He looks completely out of his element at the end :

I cannot imagine an F1 car given that Chris Harris has arguably driven the fastest production cars in the world.

Nice video. I think most have no idea of skill required to pilot F1 car. Looks relatively easy on TV but easy it is not. That video is the only time i have seen Chris Harris speechless. Keep in mind Chris is a pretty good driver.

I think in one top gear episode, Jeremy indicated to properly drive F1 car, you have to ignore what your brain is telling you since the brake points are much farther and there is so much grip you cannot believe you can brake very late and
go flatout on some corners. Your brain is basically saying you will crash and F1 car is telling you no you will be ok

On topic: GTR is not a car i see myself using to ferry the wife and kids to school so it is automatic no for me. Yes GTR is faster but like Chris indicated, not a car you can live with everyday.
