If I had the money, I would get a 550i S63tu, or save for the GTS.

You guys have to understand were this M5 is coming from. It only exists to make money, gone are the days when the M or performance spec of a lineup was a loss leader, when it cost more to produced than they charged you for it, but BMW got the halo to shine on the regular models. Now they spend all of the money researching the base lineup, and the M spec has to make it's own economic case for it's existence. Hence the penny pinching and cheap mods (ouch). I am pretty sure this M5 has eaten through all it's predecessor's good will, the next M5 will be widely known as the car people who don't know cars (but have the money, at least) get. ie. not an enthuisists car. The guy who buys for the bigger the number.. 'M' must mean something, right?
You guys know how much money BMW is making? They are some happy folks these days.
Not a lot of logic in what u are saying. Which car doesn't exist to make money? I could prob go on and dissect whatever u have said, but it all boils down to the fact that u are trying to comment on something that u have no experience or knowledge on. If u ever get to test drive the M5, u would eat all your words in a big hurry. I absolutely love the M5, but i am not oblivious to its shortcomings cos i am no fan boi. Not being perfect does not make the M5 less of a car than it actually is.
Bugatti takes a big loss on each veyron they sell.

Maybe you should have waited to test drive it before you ordered it.
Don't let any of the less than perfect reviews discourage you.. every cloud has a silver lining.
I've driven the F10 M5 multiple times, and owned an E60 M5.

You appear to be someone who has a very strong opinion from reading the Internet a lot.

Have driven both GTS and turbo panamera models on numerous occasions.

Pros
Steering feel was excellent
Ride comfort

Cons
Visibility
Price point
Seat comfort
Exterior looks

I couldn't get excited about the car, especially to shell out a premium over the M5 or even the CLS 63 I was strongly considering.

Ranking of what I considered
1) BMW M5 (purchased)
2) CLS63
3) E63
4) panamera turbo
5) panamera GTS

I have driven both vehicles before I purchased my M5F10. I do like the M5 much better than the Panamera. Compare with the navigation system, back up camera, the iDrive, BMW connected and so on, the Panamera is really lack on the media technologies at higher price. Don't get me wrong. Panamera is a nice car, but the m5 is much better value compare with the Panamera. I had a 911 4s before, I love the 911. But unless you are getting the 911, i don't really like the rest of the products.

Sorry, I forgot to preface here the M5 is 50% more than a 550i so kinda expensive, in the US it's only half that, so probably everyone who got a 550 should have considered the M5.

My comments were with consideration is the M5 worth 50% more than a 550i, but if that figure is 25% .. then the whole equation changes.
Sorry, my bad.

No experience for sure, not so sure about no knowledge..
You expressed some dissatifaction; I was only putting in words why I thought that that was.
No doubt M5 is the top of the 5 range, but at what point do you want to grow out of the 5 and into something else? Maybe I am just a lower-spec guy, I would jump to the Panamera 3.6 before the 550i etc.. everybody's different.
Well life is fair, isn't it? You can drive the M5 all day, I can't but at least I can tell you what is wrong with it. Cheers.

Nothing wrong with being a low spec guy, but not a socially polite thing to do going into forum for "higher spec" cars and saying the car has no point. It's like me going into Ferrari forum saying their car has no point. You get all your so called "knowledge" from selectively reading what u want and then forming a conclusion. U might wanna consider moving away from this attitude in life. Learn to be more open esp towards something u have not experienced. When it comes to cars, u really ought to try it out before concluding anything. How would u know what is wrong with it? By watching these reviews? Note that many of these reviewers have agendas and often go out of their way to paint the cars in a different light.

Two great cars, I'd be happy to own either one. If I had to own a mega sedan, I'd take the Porsche between the two.

As compared to where BMW has been, the steering on the F10 M5 is so much better than E60 M5 and light years ahead of the recirculating ball steering E39.

I do agree with few things on this review. One being that M5 should sound more mean with all that power. The steering should have a bit more feel.

However, there is no way Porsche P. GTS will be able to stay up with M5 in any sort of race except for 0-60. There video clearly shows M5 being 3 car lengths ahead just to 1/4th mile. However, I would have liked to see how both cars compare on a decent race track like laguna Seca etc...

Looks wise M5 hands down winner. I also love RWD sports sedans which is classic in my opinion and more fun to play with.

In my opinion the 650i Gran Coupe x-drive (+ M Sport) is the car from BMW to be put near Panamera GTS!
Some comparos are very bad and the conclusions are even worst so sometimes you wonder what was the initial point for doing it?!

I woudn't buy an M5 over a 650i GC if I'm not interested in tracking my car.
I still think that the natural habitat for the M cars is the track

I would be happy to race a Panamera GTS for pink slips. If people think their car is so great, why not put it to the test.

wow all you guys have left is to criticize the panamera on looks - no single reason why he m5 is better. Don't foret Gts is more of a drivers car because it doesn't have feel-numbing turbos. You want power - try the panamera turbo.

You pay a price to drive something more exclusive and with better engineering. Gotta pay to play.

Panamera will always get more looks than a 5 series. With the new baby panamera due out in 2016/17 the 5 series days are numbered.

You need to Understandthat Gts models are about handling, not speed. The engine is naturally aspirated and not turbocharged so it feels much more immediate. For pure speed look at the panamera turbo.

BMW makes cheap power using turbos.

Porsche does that too in their turbo models. Anyways for most people who wontbe drag racing their cars - the overall package matters. .

Not heavy enough? Not enough feedback?
All F1x xDrive models have hydraulic steering like the M5, thank god for that...

M5 with launch control does 11.78 and 11.92 consistently. Porsche is awesome machine, but I just prefer the M5 hand down.
