Dash Cams

So after the recent theft of my M performance spoiler within 12 hours of installation I seriously considering additional security options for my car

I currently have a very heavy duty steering wheel lock on the car and the car itself has to be parked on the street close to my house...

I will consider a track in time but for the time being I think i will have to consider a dash cam...Ive also been quite anti dash cams as they dont look integrated at all and are quite bulky...Even if they are hardwired you will obviously need to cameras in the front and rear which just looks out of pplace to me..

Anyways, I suppose I need to get over this as im more pissed off that someone has stolen my spoiler

After some research Ive narrowed down the search to the following

1) Blackvue 650 - (Read quite a few battery related issues about this though - ie draining the cars own battery)
2) BMW advanced eye - Looks like a very good system but very bulky

Just wanted to get this out there to get your thoughts for those of you that use dash cams

Cheers

The blackvue will be more discreet than the BMW. I don't want people knowing I have a dash cam. The less potential targets the better. What I mean by that is thieves are bold and seeing a BMW dash cam becomes a target. They will just steel it with everything else they came to take.

I think it comes down to installation and settings. I've read many reviews where there were no battery issues.

I have the Thinkware F750, great cam, and functions very well. Better resolution than the rest and more functionality. Also has a great profile.

@drbru , I have uses BlackVue DR650GW for about 2 years now on my F15 X5. I also installed the Power Magic Pro to monitor the battery voltage. So far I don't have any issue with the battery.

Is this for surveillance in general or just when parked up outside your home?

I think it would mainly be for surveillance when the car is parked up for any situation when someone hits me when I'm not in the car or someone tries to break in etc etc...

Best cam and most discrete is the koonlung ks1. Do a search on it. I've used it for a year without issue, great little unit.
