Brand new M5 already hit!

So - had my new joy for just at 5 weeks and today while watching The Lego Movie (which I must say is fantastic!) - some dude backs in to the M. He was honest to be waiting for me - car sustained right rear damage. Cops filed a report.

Was wondering if anyone can recommend good body shops in Atlanta or should I just take it back to United BMW (they have a body shop).

Thanks!

He got both panels, that sucks.
Ask stealth pilot he is from the ATL.

I had someone back into me as well. I just ordered a new bumper, had IND paint it, threw a coat of sealant on it, and got it installed. I did not want to wait or have to deal with a body shop.

I feel your pain. Do I ever. I had mine a couple weeks longer than you, but then had to wait four months for the parts, repairs, and transport back home. It's torture, I know.

This really sucks. I've had some body work done before, Nalley body shop was by far the best work I've seen. Their paint job was perfect.

Looks like most of that can buff right out with some compound & microfiber cutting pads.

Ask someone to try their Rupes + Menzerna FG first!

What avlnch said. If you have to get new body panels you should order from IND.

I feel your pain as well. Somebody at the dealership hit mine before I even took delivery of it...the dealer sent it to a body shop and had the bumper cover resprayed but 8 months later and I'm still fighting the swirls! I've clayed and polished a few times but they just seem to keep coming back in different spots. I find the black sapphire to be very soft and scratches very easily. Best of luck!

Yes! I had a minor mishap when I ran over a tow hitch with my M3. I had the insurance company write the check over to me. You can do whatever you want from there.

Call the Ferrari service department and ask who they use for body work. That is probably the place you should use.

Looks like the metal portion can be buffed out? Maybe repaint the rear bumper. Alpine white shouldn't be hard to fix.

Sucks that you just got it, but it's not so bad!

I'm not convinced you're better off ordering from IND. I don't really know much about body shops in Atlanta since last time I used one was in 1997. I just asked my Dad about it and he says that you should check out Performance Auto Collision in Alpharetta which is Porsche certified.

Personally I would stay away from Nalley. I used the Nalley BMW body shop back in 1997 for some work and the paintwork was very poor.

I used performance for some rear quarter panel work and Nalley for front end re-paint on my infiniti . Nalley was much much better. This was in 2011.

Performance Auto Collision in Alpharetta does a great job, however, I am personal friends with Chris C (owner of Classic Collision), also in Alpharetta, and his people do first class work. My father just had some minor work done on a launch edition S550 (license plate holes on front bumper filled and painted) and the work is immaculate. Just my $.02 on the deal. BTW sorry for the incident! Bobby

Just dropped it off... was such a depressing site to see so many high end cars damaged from recent Atlanta ice storm!

I would have refused delivery and got a new car.
