So when I use the VIN of the performance edition with black grills the parts database I get these part numbers for the side grills:

14 Grille, side panel, front, left M 1 51137903879
14 Grille, side panel, front, right M 1 51137903880

When I use my own VIN from my non-LCI M5 (With silver grills) I get these part numbers also:

14 Grille, side panel, front, left M 1 51137903879
14 Grille, side panel, front, right M 1 51137903880

I suspect your dealer got the same thing... and you will get silver grills.

If your service dealer looks at the VIN details of the car you used it will say something about how to order replacement parts which refers to the group I got the above parts numbers and also refers that BMW Group GB needs to order them.

Yup, you were right.

Silver ones turned up. The black chrome are available but in order for parts depart in UK to order from Germany you need chassis no.

So spread the word. Someone out there must have one of the 10 x special edition M5 which all went to Japan with the black chrome bits.

Help us in the UK !!!!!!

I have a chassis number but I doubt they will turn up. Even when you use the chassis number it doesn't display the right part number in ETK hence you need BMW UK's support to get them.

I wonder if the bodyshop can work a way to get a black finish on the chrome. Maybe stripping and then painting them?

Worth getting a cost to compare whether to paint them here in the UK or import from IND.

I just worry about getting the import duty charges and vat on top from USA to UK.

Strange before seeing this part of the thread, I was on the phone to my parts guy today about this exact thing. I gave him a Performance reg, waiting to hear back. He sorted my M3 ones but it's interesting to see your comments that they are easier to obtain.

I am looking to change my side grills same problem for me dealer cannot get the performance side grills black do you think the current chrome version could be sprayed black ? I have spoken to somebody about this they have warned me about the paint not taking to the chrome very well

IND as we know sell a painted set of side grilles and i am sure the quality is perfect (welcome any comments Nate).

If there are a few of us we should pool the carriage together and make one order. I am also looking at the exhaust tips.
