M5 F10 LCI Front Bumper
Hi everyone
Happy New Year to you all. I've been keenly watching this forum for the past 7 or so months. Fantastic forum. My new M5 finally arrived a month and half ago and it is just fantastic -Alpine white LCI. I took my car in for its running in service yesterday and the dealer has damaged the front bumper My car has Paintshield Xpel film on it but did not save it. They have admitted liability but I'm not sure what the best course of action is. Is it possible to get a pre painted oem front bumper? The parts department say they can only get primed. I would much rather it be pre painted as I have had some pretty bad resprays done by approved BMW dealerships. Does anyone have a BMW contact in Germany or the Uk who might be able to help? Regards |

You can get prepainted from factory. Takes up to 6 weeks. Probably 3-4 weeks if you're in Europe.

Hi.
All the BMW garages in the UK, say they can only get a primed bumper from Germany and not a factory painted. They say its not listed on their parts database. Any ideas how to obtain a factory painted one? Regards |

arg - nothing worse but at least they have admitted it.
They should be able to order it with a paint code form BMW in Germany I've done this with small parts (mirror covers) but not something as big as a bumper. BMW Battersea's body shop is pretty decent, but I agree that none of them are brilliant. I know BMW Park Lane have used a few third party body shops for work, one thats local to me, Ital Coachworks who are a superb paint shop. maybe suggest that route to the dealer if they can't get a painted one to look good. Just be thankful you don't have mineral white as I hear thats a nightmare to paint. Cheers, Neil

Hi Neil
They didn't come straight out and admit it!! I always go round the car with them before hand to check the car - when the car was returned I noticed it and pointed it out!! |

Alpine White is the easiest color to paint match ... it sucks balls that this happened, but thankfully it's an easy color for he body shop.... be glad it isn't a "pearl" paint color or silver

IND will sell you a painted bumped. Their paint work is flawless.

I have inquired about this before.
You cannot buy a factory painted bumper from BMW. You can only purchase primed bumpers.

+1. I'd go the IND route. They'll be able to get a non-painted bumper faster and just paint it for you and it will be 99.9999999% factory finish. Good luck!
