It doesnt seem to work on my 320i F30 sport line with sport+ and manual engaged. I only get it to go in M3 instead of S3.

Any ideas?

After having owned an E92 M3 6MT for 4 years and switching to a 2013 E92 DCT recently (yes sig is wrong I ordered a 2012 and ended up with a 2013) the DCT is much more fun. I absolutely love it and I've always been a lover of 6MT's.

I always drive it in manual mode and its just a blast to drive. I'm still not used to it on the racetrack (keep bouncing off rev limiter since it doesn't auto shift) but its a blast to drive. It feels like a completely different car in DCT.

Leave it to M engineers to complicate a simple matter. Hold brake, hold brake and throttle, let go of brake and mash throttle. There. Less than 2 secs.

But here is a true noob question for you, why is a launcher necessary when you're hitting peak torque at 1,250 rpm? Shouldn't this thing just fly once you let go of the brakes?

Lol

Maybe your car is a South African and not a German build? This is a known issue with SA builds.

You dont need to to touch the brakes at all. If its on a flat surface, the car will not roll, so touching the brakes is overcomplicating the matter.

I thought my LC was finicky when I first started trying. I had no luck getting it to work at the track. Here's what I've figured out. If you apply too much brake pressure it will not activate. If the drivetrain (not just the engine oil) is not up to operating temp, it will not activate. I also believe if ambient temps are too low it will not activate (not confirmed yet).

Now I have DSC off and S3 setup on my M1 button. Stop on a flat surface; push the M1 button twice (you have to confirm turning off DSC), do not touch the brake, push the shift forward, see the flag, floor it, and let go of the shifter. All this takes less than two seconds if that. I have no trouble activating LC at will.

That said, I do not think LC results in the quickest acceleration if conditions are fairly good. If the road/track offers decent grip, foot braking and modulating the throttle seems to work best for me. I'll be back at the track later in July to test all this again. But for now, my quickest ET (11.66) was without LC, DSC off, foot brake launch.

Simon has it correct. No need to touch the brakes if you are at a stop. I must have watched the video five times and read every posting here before giving LC a try.

I literally laughed out loud in the car after giving LC a try....... just my view but I found it so intuitive a cave man could work it! Also agree it is not the fastest way to launch, but a fun toy and I like the sound.

This is exactly how I have it (on M2) and I wish BMW did this for all the press cars so that journalists would stop complaining!! Super simple, I launched my car for the first time 3 days ago and I flew like a bat out of hell!!

Problem with shifting into 2nd gear

I can get the vehicle to launch with no problem.
However, it will not shift to 2nd automatically I have to do it myself.
Has anyone else encountered this problem ?

It's the most dumbest LC system out there. It's like BMW doesn't want you to use it. If a GT 500 shows up at a stop light I should be able to press one button and be ready to rock. Not following 18 steps that may or may not work.

In addition to the GT 500 guy now posting on svtperformance.com that he had me and I never had my car.

Pm me if you don't get this.
