LOL they said that it was a few months away in Oct. When I called Scott...

We are getting increased stock boost by 3psi via BMS for $500.
The difference though is if that 3psi is mapped in to the car properly vs. just piggy back under boosting... If that psi is built into the curve and all in sync with everything it should be better than just pure underboost tricking.

The former will always be safer and more consistent if done well. For instance to run 3psi with the BMS you have to run race gas bc thats beyond the ECU's amity to adapt fueling and retard timing. It also allows you to do something the BMS can never do in its current state , add power up top more than in the midrange (assuming the turbos are not maxed out) I don't want any more low end torque, i can't use what i'm making now lol. And if they are the only ones to crack it after working countless hours on multiple development cars that they purchased , charging 2500 -3500 is totally understandable initially. Terry had 0 development costs for he BMS on the M5/M6. Dinan has put several hundred thousand into by now. Its not like they would be selling a development file for 2500 like everyone else has been .
My two cents
George
Exactly, and thats not even considering if they get the speed limiter gone (which I'd pay 1500 alone to get rid of lol)

My concern is that Dinan also mentioned something about engine life being shortened when boost is altered. Perhaps they are testing this?
lmao thats with every engine bro... Or anything for that matter when you ask something to go over what it was designed for it will inherently shorten its life, now if these things are built like the n54 where it just can take an extra 180+whp all day and run fine for 100k+ then we lucked out. But thats the risk you take modding.

I'm also guessing most of us wouldn't keep a car for 200k+ and whatever ramifications of modding this car will be left for someone else to worry about and if the car can make it 100k... Personally I'm not concerned if the guy who bought it from carmax @ 156k for 18,000 gets a bricked engine after 10 years...

Patiently waiting...

These ECU's have military grade encryption... so it's a tough one especially when it continuously resets itself after shutting of the car.

I think the answer to your questions is in this thread from earlier today:

With this development, the staff of IND finally knew (a temporary) defeat. We understood that without complete and total control of the engine control computers, no built engine or extra large turbochargers would help us to arrive at the extreme power levels we desired.

It was time for a momentary retreat. We had to regroup, asses our goals, and truly understand our mission and the reason for spending tens of thousands on the IND F10 M5.

Catless DP = CEL. Not a question of if, just of when.

I'm sure if a tuner had the DME fully defined, the code could be ignored.

In the calibration data there's probably a flag to set to 0 or 1 to ignore a specific error.
