Great photos to see comparison of catted downpipes and downpipes without the cats. With the larger 5" cat is there any slight moving of heat shielding or wiring that has to be done? I sure would like to hear more about the ESS tune for use with the catless down pipes. Is it not already installed on your Beast?

I'm with you @Used2be, except I'd probably be going catted for personal reasons.

All factory heat shielding works with both AMS catted and non catted down pipes. We are currently running the catless AMS downpipes + Eisenmann full with the Race level. I will have a sound clip up today.

No smell in the cabin at all. Wait until you hear the catless setup

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any experience with how the ESS tune is working with your catless downpipes? Is it a comfortable, streetable driving experience? Does the CEL light remain off and has the 155 mph speed limit been defeated?

I know all the various testing modes take time to accomplish, but do you intend to test the ESS tune and catless downpipes with an otherwise stock exhaust system in place? I am very curious as to how the stock system sounds with the cats removed. Appreciate, and look forward to, your updates.

Heard the IND beast at Bimmerfest today. Thanks Andrew for firing it up. While it is indeed loud, the exhaust note is still very refined and definitely retains the E-race tone...with added volume and turbo spooling!

I was on the fence about going catless, but hearing it in person makes me think again about potentially going that direction. I still am definitely interested in seeing what happens when the catted pipes go on the car, in both volume and potential HP gains.

Sorry I missed meeting you Nate. Next time!

Thanks for your report on the exhaust. With the cats out of the way, I am very curious as to how the stock system will sound. It probably won't have the tone of the aftermarket mufflers, but if it just becomes a little more 'present' that will be enough for me. Did Andrew mention anything about the ESS tune? Have they been able to avoid the display of warnings on the dash with the cats out of the system?

Based on what I heard, my guess is that the stock system will definitely be louder with downpipes. How much of the tone will remain is anyones guess, but based on the current IND setup I'd be inclined to think it will retain its tone. Hoping that is a case with my exhaust too.

Regarding the tune I spoke with Andrew and ESS directly. They are all said exactly the same thing...it is coming but have no solid timeframe or date. The IND car is headed to ESS now for more work...which is really good IMHO. Definitely going to have a CEL without a tune on the catless and unknown if the catted AMS pipe will throw a CEL as they have not been installed on a car.

I am blown away by the craftsmanship. I can't wait for the finished project.

For now, I think a video will work when you'll be able to upload it.

Still ... big thumbs up!!

Catted DPs with ceramic coating

I just received these beauties and all I can say is wow. Get your wallets out you won't be disappointed. My mild mannered M6 reminds me of an AMS Alpha GTR now.

Peace
