Doesn't the genesis of this thread stem from inaccurate information and deception from a "dealership"? Again, you made me laugh. Unfortunately, I never got the promotion to detailer.

It seems that way by your snide comments. As said before, dealers dealing with dealers are made available to a lot more info than the casual consumer. I guess you just like hearing yourself talk or the sound of your keyboard. Keep trying though, maybe you will get that promotion to detailer, someone has to clean the toilets first though. I just love internet "smart guys"

I'd LOVE to see how this conversation would happen if we all were in person.
One of these days...

Well you can't lemon law a used car, you haven't gotten the steering vibration yet but that will come soon, and before the LCI update they burned oil like crazy. Changing from a 13 to a 14 zcp felt like a totally different car for me. I would have it out with the dealership because BMW NA won't take any liability nor will they have to in this situation. I've also heard of them not doing a CPO on a car that new as well, so that's nothing strange.
Caveat emptor. Stick it to the dealership and let the poor Google reviews begin. You got screwed but hopefully they will do the right thing and replace the front bumper. |

It would be quite a 'social experiment'.

However they do it on request usually. What's unusual about this case is not that they didn't CPO it but that they said they could not CPO it.

A missed shift here is perhaps not the same as you are thinking about? Read this thread for instance and it might clear things up a bit http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1225479 A missed shift at full throttle can lead to over revving the engine, simply due to the momentum of the accelerating flywheel. So even though fuel/ignition is cut at rev limiter, the engine rpm can go above redline in such a scenario. Here is a printout taken from the thread I linked to, which shows a high rpm reading of 7518,75rpm on a engine that has a 7400rpm redline... All of these incidents are stored in the DME, and missing a shift that leads to a over rev of the engine should be easily detectable to the dealer. |

May not seem like it but I am familiar with over-rev/missed shift. My original comment was specifically geared toward BMW’s loosely interpreted CPO guidelines. Another in this thread posted numerous links to specific vehicles that were CPO’d and clearly didn't fall under those guidelines. I'm familar with P cars and if this was Rennlist my statement would have been different. Unfortunately, we have deviated from original topic that the OP was misled from his dealer and his situation sucks.
