Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I think I like the Piano but am concerned about marring just from wiping it with a microfiber. One of the guys on the F10 had piano black in his 550xi and he said it got light scratches which you could see in the sun, and he got frustrated to the point he removed the trim and replaced it with aluminum. Not sure if that is normal or an exception. Any thoughts?

Go with anthracite if you plan to keep the car longer than one year.

I am going with piano black. Exterior is Alpine White, interior Sakhir Orange full. My take is that the contrast between the black upper dash and SO lower is better transitioned by the piano black trim. That said though, I am going to do my best to keep it free of finger prints, etc. Also, I plan on maintaining it like a piano. Seen recommendations to use a CA duster for routine dusting, and if needed use a damp chamois with a tiny drop of soap to remove finger prints.
Personally, I fear swirl marks more than scratches...and that I hope to avoid with weekly dusting as described above. And never having the car wash dust the trim (if I have to take it there for a wash). |
