Has anyone had their trunk open itself / found their trunk left opened?
Yesterday I parked the car in my garage and am positive I closed the trunk, locked the car and then left the keys inside. I'm positive about that since I have a routine I follow every night just to be safe and for the sake of having a routine. Anyways, a little while later, I go back into the garage and to my surprise the trunk is wide open. Luckily I left nothing inside but it's got me seriously concerned about leaving valuables in the trunk area. Anyone ever have this happen to them on any of their cars? On a side note: my BMW widgets also stopped working, but I guess that's happening to a few folks here. I almost thought the trunk thing was some faulty software glitch : |

I've had this issue upon closing, I think it has to do with walking away from the car with the key and the trunk not being closed yet. There's def a thread a thread I started on it a while back.
It will beep multiple times though to alert you. |

I had this issue after my laser jammer was installed. Randomly or sometimes right when I closed the driver door it would open.
I ended up removing the rear carpet panel on the truck and took a look. When I put it all back together the random openings stopped. A wire must have been pinched. Note: if you lock the trunk from center console, it will stop the random openings until you can find the issue.

Activated in one's pocket. Or it could be something else. How's that for assistance?

Mysterious Trunk Opening
The first time it happened i was just sure it was "user error"- Then another instance. Again, i thought i must have accidentally pushed the trunk button at bottom of fob when locking. Now after at least SIX occurrences I'm confident it is a system error -
It only happens when i lock the car with fob and am in a parking area with other vehicles. Maybe it is picking up another user's signal (Lock or unlock) that is disengaging the trunk lock? Definitely too many occurrences to be accidental user error. |

I've had this happen about 3-4 times. It's not user error. It also happened this morning when my wife drove out of the garage and I THINK she instinctively hit the garage door homelink switch in her Infiniti when I was about to enter my car. This is scary because I keep my laptop in my trunk and it always seems to happen when I'm in proximity to other cars.

This happened to me with my F80 M3. I was watching football with my friends at a pub which was about 10 feet from my car, and one of my friends noticed the trunk was opened. It also happened in my driveway. I went into my house and when I came out the trunk was open. Has never happened to my X5M yet.
