Anyone with Catted AMS downpipes have zero rattle. Had these installed at EAS about 2 months ago and there is a moderate rattle upon deceleration from 1800rpms to just above idle. New donut gaskets and all. Any help would be appreciated.

God that would piss me off. I remember these issues from my Subaru STI days. Sometimes we had to adjust the activator arms. I have no clue what to tell you other than that sucks.

Oh this again...

In some cases, the AMS downpipes accentuate the free play that already exists in the stock turbo waste gate armature. This happens to occur coming off revs and near idle. No fix unless you want to install a washer to tighten the play in the armature which would likely result in excess wear. Good luck.

Thanks Mark...
Excess wear on the housing?
Emails out to AMS waiting on a reply. Is there nobody out there without a rattle?

Please post summarized response.

I'm about to pull the trigger on these but as my car has zero rattle right now and I've dealt with wastegate rattle on my n54 335, I am hesitant.

I thought this was resolved by replacing the factory gasket for new when installing? Have detailed instructions for fitters been created?

Ultimately, there is no fix. Whether you have catted or catless, there will be rattles with varying degrees.

Hey guys, mine is stock and also hear this metal rattling sound when rev to 2K rpm then release. Sport+ mode, need to reach 3K~4K rpm.

Brought to deal says wastegate, normal. Just to make sure, this sound I heard comes from engine area (probably downpipe). Are you guys talking about the same sound?

New car doesn't have this sound. I got 26K miles now.

And, since you all say, no fix, but any concerns / attentions / maintenance suggestion ?

Thanks guys

I'm experiencing a similar rattle on my recently purchased stock CPO M5. I'm starting to wonder if the previous owner had aftermarket dp's installed, and took them off before reselling the car back to BMW. Thoughts anyone?

Aftermarket DP's doesn't cause the rattle, its the waste gate linkage and valve rattling and thats part of your turbos and normal. Catless DP's just make it easier to hear as the OEM DPs are double walled and have a cat to dampen the sound.

Thanks for the explanation. When I brought the car to the dealership, they did find a broken bolt underneath the car contributing to some of the rattling. There still is some slight rattle going on. Now I know the previous owner was greentrbo95gst, and he previously had DPs installed..Well at least the car was broken in properly.

Bringing this back from the dead.. I'm having rattle with my AMS catless downpipes. I replaced the original gaskets, with new ones when I swapped them in originally, going to replace them with new gaskets again and hopefully the sound goes away. What's the deal alpha ? Any fix on these? Thank you

My apologies, I read your post as if you had the rattle then found the cause with the placement of your donunt gasket being in the wrong spot.

On that drawing number 7 is the gasket you need to replace and the rattle is caused by number 6 flopping around.

It's not the downpipes specifically it's just that you can hear it with catless downpipes.. My rattle is pretty bad, but I honestly don't care as I only hear it if I rev my engine loudly.. and then I dont really care anyway because I'm enjoying the sound of the turbos singing..
