Bang and Olufsen lighting?

I just picked up my M5, and I see a control for lighting on the B&O system, but I do not see any lights coming from my speakers. Are there lights in the speakers? The options in iDrive are off, reduced lighting while driving, or on for the speakers lights. I tried them all and not seeing any lights. Any care to shed some "light" on this?

Saw a post on here recently saying that just the center speaker on the front dash lights up. I guess it's really subtle.

I submitted the post about the light - it is very subtle. You really need to try it when it is very dark. You can see the small white LED light from outside the car if you look directly down on the dash speaker. This is probably done not to reflect on the windshield from the inside - just a slight enhancement to illuminate the B&O speaker that rises up.

i can definitely see the LEDs at night, they are almost like spot lights illuminating the two upper door speakers and the dash mounted one.
very nice touch IMO.

I am VERY disappointed in this. I expected at least the main door speaker grills to be illuminated as well. To be honest, if I had to do it over I wouldn't have ordered B&O.

Apparently the main door grills are lit for the 6-series AND 7-series (which has all grills lit) but not the 5

I also should add that I've been running my music via Bluetooth from my iPhone, something I do in my Jeep Grand Cherokee all the time with zero problem, and the connection with the B&O gets staticy every 3rd song or so.

I love the car - but the B&O bums me out a touch because I feel like it was (a LOT of) money down the drain.

Whats up buddy, first off I must say thanks for putting together the dinner in Munich the night before (very nice).
Now regarding the BO lighting, funny story. So we asked Hanz whats up with the light, he said, oh try it out when its dark, "it lights up like a disco party".
We say ugh ok haven't heard that but its Hanz, so he must know whats up.
So halfway to Paris wife says, so lets check out this disco lighting. We turn the lighting up (on so not reduced when driving) and "she" says, "ugh it must be broken". I said wow it looks like the moon reflecting off the silver plastic on the dash it is so blah. We got a laugh and I said I bought it for the sound and not the christmas lights....funny.

It's super subtle. I was checking this out tonight. If you look closely you will find a tiny little light in front of the speaker in the center of the dash.

Like you, I could not even tell. Any light coming in washes it out easily.

Changing it to "Reduced whiled driving" seems to be more off than reduced.

Is there a big cost difference between the 6er and 5er B&O systems?

But in the 6's and 7's it's all speaker grills and looks very cool (I sat in a 6 with it). Quite unfortunate for us given the cash outlay.

Well guess what!

There is a light. One light on the front speaker, none anywhere else. Here is a shot from a hour ago. ISO on the camera was at 1600 F 1.2

That is a tiny light. I finally found it myself, looking in from the outside.

I did eventually find the lights on the front door pillar speakers, but they are so minute as to be worthless.

I didn't get this option. Why? In Australia it is a 14K option!!! That's about 15-16K USD!!!

Using Bluetooth hinders the quality of sound. Use a CD or a wired connection. There are many posts regarding this.
