Bye Bye M5, Hello Tesla P85!
Hey guys! I placed an order for a Tesla P85 a few days ago and should be taking delivery in late October. I'm really going to miss the M5 but am ready for a change. If anyone is looking for some used parts off my current ride, please PM me and lets make a deal! The 20" BBS FI's are in perfect condition.
Full build specs on the Tesla are attached if anyone's curious. The reason I'm making such a drastic change is because of the following: - We have our first child on the way and my wife hates driving the M5 which makes car swapping impossible. She has a 14' Rangerover and I love driving that thing. - I love the car I've built w/ the M5 but its been almost 2 years and thats usually my limit on cars. Ready for a change. - We'll save some money w/ the Tesla which is always nice. - Haven't seen too many customized Teslas around so plan to put a nice build together. It'll be limited for obvious reason but you can do a lot w/ paint & wheels. - Saving the planet of course! - I'm a Tesla stockholder.... - I believe in what Elon Musk is doing and forcing innovation when it comes to alternative power sources. It won't really matter in my lifetime but my kids and grandkids, it will. I'll always love the M5 and all M cars. Who knows, maybe in 18 months I'll get another one again. But for now, lets see what these Tesla's are all about! My Tesla P85 build: |

Tesla looks nice, drove one here in the UK, not that impressed but hey it's your shout.
Not many charging points here so the car is all but useless at the moment unless you do short trips.

Electricity isn't really an alternative energy source, it's generated using fossil fuels for the most part and in California, I believe where you live, it's 95% from Natural Gas since they closed the colossal disaster called San Onofre.

Same here.
But if the car is in comfort mode all the way (steering, drive, suspension etc) the M5 drives like an ordinary 530d

I've heard bad things about the interior as well. For prius drivers it's fine but for people who know the difference it's very sub par.

What a buzz kill w/ that janky interior. The center console section has no covered storage, everything is exposed (rails from the passenger seat), even the little scroll wheels on the steering wheel had a weird clicking noise when scrolling. Doors dont even have a storage compartment. They better get that interior worked out if they're gonna charge someone $130K for a car.

Im shocked you even placed the order pre inspection.... the lack of sound kills it for me. Exhaust = Must Have.

Hilarious! Good move Marko. For that cash there are other very special cars available (especially with a few miles on them)

A few years ago right before my first M5 (2013), I placed an order for the Tesla P85S too... cancelled my order after I drove it as well and went and got my '13 M5 back then.
Sure, it may be faster off the line with a full charge but that doesn't mean shit in terms of continuous driving and handling and luxury, etc. The $5K deposit took forever to get refunded too

You didn't know that before you ordered? I definitely noted that in a post about a year ago. I looked at both before I bought the M5. I never seriously considered the Tesla because I drive all over Texas and you just can't do that with a Tesla. Lot's of them in my neighborhood though, it's a very popular car here in Austin.

Good luck. Driving a car with no engine sound is freaky. Did that for the first time a few weeks ago and it was weird. Have fun. You might be back.
