Unhappy Saying goodbye to my 2013 M5 ... and I'm sad about it

I've never had my intense and fierce brand loyalty tested so harshly.

My F10 was purchased as a gift for myself on my 40th birthday. I bought my dream car. The F10 in Frozen Grey. Surely it was one of the first in America.
In only 13K miles I've:
  • Been subject to the engine factory recall (ok, whatever - new model - it happens - the price you pay for early adopation)
  • Dash glue goes bad resulting in multi-week wait for replacement from Germany only to have the dealer order the one not cut for the HUD
  • Turbo leak
  • And the deal breaker - won't go into park - BMW says new transmission required

I loved you. You were a beautiful car that did not return my love. I dressed you so nice and took you out for wonderful drives through Malibu canyon.

I can't have you in my life anymore as your warranty expires. You have hurt me deeply and I have to leave you to protect myself.

I am sad inside.

What's next?

Why not an LCI F10 M5? Crazy deals to be had right now on remaining inventory.

Jesus, BMWs are not exactly super reliable but you pretty much hit the "lottery" in terms of having issues.

Wow! Never heard of such bad luck or issues. Have had my 13 (2012 production) without any issues at all.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

thats unfortnate to those early builds, they are more subject to issue, big issues, such as these. If you love the M5 so much, Id suggest looking into an LCI version. Otherwise, maybe go Panamera! : )

I bought a Tesla P90D.

I need a break from BMW. I say this with a sad face. I truly am a BMW fanboy by all measures. I even have a BMW motorcycle.

Been driving one for a week. It's fun. Not BMW M5 fun. More practical.

I'm currently shopping for an E46 or similar that I can take to the track. Have 2 friends that track all the time and I feel left out.

I've had 0 problems with the 3 F10 M5's I've had... I think the 14's and 15's have a lot of the quirks worked out. I've seen quite a few injector/coil issues on the 13's.
