Owner's Manual Says "NO" to fuel cleaners

Hi All

My manual for our 2012 Tasmanian 528xi specifically states that fuel cleaners are not allowed. Can they detect if you use one? Do they work. I use Chevron Techtron in my older cars without direct fuel injection.

didn't know that we're not suppose to use fuel cleaners? any truth to this?
