Soon to be M5 owner!
On June of this year I placed an order for a MY2016 M5; a car I've been admiring and lusting after for a while. The tracking adventure started pretty much from that date.
1. First was the wait to get the VIN so I could run it through the VIN decoder. That happened and the car was assembled July 12. 2. Then the wait started since the car was delayed at the plant due to the diff recall (still don't know if mine was impacted or not...will find out when I pick it up next week if I have to sign the waiver). 3. Near the end of August after calling BMW Canada pretty much weekly to inquire about the status I got the good news it was released to be shipped to Bremerhaven. 3. Bremerhaven webcams and WWL site was my next daily focus like if it was my job. Got the lucky Tortugas vessel departing on August 30th and arriving in Halifax on the 12th. 4. My attention then shifted to the marine traffic site and tracking the ship as it made its way. 5. Once the Tortugas was moored at Halifax port, I was able to connect with someone from the M4 forums with access to CN to see when the car would go through the VPC and get on rail. 6. Car made it to Toronto late last week/early this week. 7. Finally, I've been checking the trucking company that would carry the car from the CN auto compound here in Toronto to my dealer. Well, today my vin finally popped on their tracking site with a delivery to the dealer for this Friday! 8. Got word from my sales guy that pickup will be next week. I am pretty stocked! Been a long wait especially given I got rid of my E92 M3 on August 3 and been driving a Kia Forte, then X3 and now a 320i xdrive for the time being. The M5 is going to be literally three times more powerful than the 320 loaner I got now, so I better wear brown pants when I pick it So today getting this good news, wanted to make a thread and introduce myself to this board. I am counting the hours until next week. I have a feeling these last few days are going to be the longest. I plan to go check it out this weekend and if possible will post some pics. Then once I get it proper, will take more pics lol. In the meantime, I ordered a very humble personalised plate and the sto n sho front license plate mount so they don't drill holes in the front bumper. I am still waiting on those pieces and hope they get here in time. Here are the options I took: - Monte Carlo Blue - Full Silverstone interior - Premium package - Pretty much everything else without comp package, B&O, and ceramics brakes. And here is a link to my thread on parting ways with my M3 http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1290785 Looking forward to share with you guys and contribute to the forum.

Congrats.
Mine was built July 20th and was not affected by the Diff issue(I think July 4th was the cut off). I feel your pain as I ordered mine in May and had to wait for the Individual paint delay.

I had a light tan interior in a 525i years ago. I swore I would NEVER do that again. To much freakin work and worry keeping it clean. The lightest I ever went again was Indy Red in my old E60M5 . I have black in my F10 now.

Thanks everyone!
Nice to see other guys trading up and happy coming from the E92. Big shoes to fill for sure but I am sure the M5 can handle it in spades. Quote:
http://opticoat.com/page/opti-guard-leather Already asked a detailer here about it and he says no smell, no change in colour or texture of the leather...we'll see. Thanks man and nice colour! Nice, congrats. The power difference must be pretty noticeable. I am sure I'll feel it way more having driven a Kia, X3 and 320 from the M3 for almost two months now...my mind will So here are the good news. The car arrived a day early at the dealer and they sent me some pics! I also got my plate today so just waiting on the mount and then I can drop everything off. Notice the nice hand print already on the centre arm rest oh well... Here is what I got planned when I get it: 1. New car prep, cQuartz finest and protective film and interior opti-guarded. 2. Decode it and unlock a bunch of the features. 3. Maybe a dash integrated radar. 4. Winter rims and tires its Canada and you never know when it will snow.

Quick update, picked it up Tuesday night and been loving it. So powerful and still getting used to the size. Nearing 400km already and my fuel consumption is horrid
A few pics when I picked it up and tomorrow dropping it off for detail, coating, wrap and interior leather guard.

Grats! I picked up mine three months. Same interior color, full leather option. Keeping it clean hasn't been an issue. What has been an issue for me is the interior trim. It scratches really easy. Already have a couple of noticeable scratches on the door trim thanks to my wedding ring and watch.
