Thanks guys. The guys at Motorcepts really did a good job. I think the front of the car looks waaaayyyy better without a front plate but we all know how NYC cops and meter maids get a hard on for giving tickets!

Brilliant mod would be event better if you could get it to flip over to a different plate on the other side...

$300 Installed. A little steep but well worth it. For someone with the know how u can buy the setup for around $150 and wire and install it yourself. I dont have the time nor do i want to be bothered!

I know i should know but i dont! The motorcepts guys did it on their own F10 ///M5 and countless other high end cars so i trust that they know what theyre doing.

Very nice. Did they have to cut some of the grill?

Yes they do have to cut some of the grill so the plate can fit flush.

Had one of these on a car about a year ago. Its really cool, but if you lease, BMW will make you replace the grill (if they are only cutting the grill, and this is unknown). And, once a little salt gets in there in the winter, the whole think Eff's up. Otherwise, a great mod!

Love it. Surprised more people don't do this. I would if I lived in one of these plate nazi states.

The grill is only $30 bucks for a new one. They did say every 6 months or so to spray WD40 on the track which i will. Not really going to be driving this car in the winter either.

Just be careful

When I was looking for a way to have the front license place installed, as required by law in NYC, I also looked at this retractable option, however, a fellow New Yorker told me his story about his retractable license plate experience. It would seem that though it will work in cities with no potholes, NYC would be somewhat different. He had it for less than a month when it just came off when he hit one of those famous New York City potholes. So be carefull when you are driving around the city. Anyway, I just decided to use the US Mill steel plate which is very sturdy and I have had my bouts with those unavoidable NYC potholes with no effects on the plate, albeit some wheel alignment.

The grille only costs $65.84. Not a big deal to cut it. Easy to replace.

Salt is an issue for people in snow climates. For people in Texas and California it's less of an issue.

A couple guys here had that retractable on their e60 m5 and the motor system broke. Good idea but not for me on my previous Beamer. This millworks system I bought works very well. There's a system for everyone
