F10 - 2013 vs other years
Hey All,
I'm in the market to purchase an f10 and have heard from some YouTube channels that 2013's can be more susceptible to issues when compared to 2014-2016. Does anybody have experience with this or is it complete BS and mostly comes down to proper maintenance regardless of which year it is. Thank you all! |

I bought a 13 last March or April. I've only put about 3000 miles on it, but it's been rock solid so far. Had a complete service history. The only thing it has needed was new tires, and its in for an oil change and new front pads and rotors as we speak.
It's been on several long trips with no problems. Having owned several M3s, my experience is the service history of an M car is more important than the year. |

Wasn't 2013 when most were built and therefore more reliable with build quality but really the service intervals and the way it's driven is the key to long life in any M5. Beware of ex leased cars.

(Some of) the early build cars had issues with oil pumps and/or injectors. Any of the affected oil pump cars would have already had the recall done, and I imagine any 2013 with a faulty injector would have shown issues by now.
There is also some anecdotal evidence of 2013s burning more oil, but hard to say if that's really true. Ultimately, as the others have said, the car's history matters far more. |

It's worth mentioning that the injectors are similar in appearance for pre lci and lci except that the lci EU6 injectors were programmed for a different spray pattern to the EU5 ones for '11 to '13 models.
