Limiting it to 30 Jahre buyers would mean that only 2 or 3 are attending? I don't know how many 30 Jahre cars have sold in the US, but not everyone will be able to attend, so limiting it to that seems odd.
I'll be attending an M event at Thermal. Dates are not quite clear yet, but might be there just a couple of days before you.

My M event at Thermal has been confirmed for Tue 9/30. I was speculating that yours would fall in the same window and wouldn't be limited to 30 Jahre owners. I stand corrected.

Barry - Sorry to hijack your post...

Could you share more information about the M event at Thermal? Is it a M performance driving school? Pay to attend or else? How to register or get more info?

That is an awesome %. At least we know 15 cars made it into the right hands and at least 1 car that did not.

Dress Lightly. It's still 95-100 Degrees there this time of year during the day.

Barry/neria, I just got back from attending the event yesterday. You will have a great time. Don't know whether the program is different for the 30 Jahre owners but in our case got to sample new m3/4/5/6/6GC across different events like autocross, drag race and lead follow on the race track.

BWM did an awesome job setting up this event. They have this enormous very professional air conditioned tent with a great buffet to recharge and stay out of the heat during breaks (yes it does get close to 100 outside). They also have plenty of cold water and sunscreen at different locations outside. They don't have the time to give you a lot of one-on-one instruction, but ask away and the M school instructors are very willing to help you out.

Try to win one of the events. In our case the winners got to be passengers in one of the two m3 race cars they have on hand. I forgot to check our own speeds (too busy enjoying the experience), but was told that on the race track the m3/4's reach speeds of 125mph whereas the m3 race cars reach 200mph.

Enjoy!!

Thanks for the update. How did you hear of or sign up for the event you went to? What was it called? It would be nice to know about the CA M schools if/when they have them vs flying out East. Forecast is 100+...... hope the AC is working in the tent!

Barry, I was there on Monday, you'll have a great time. I'm in the process of completing a write-up with pics and vids. If you want to be surprised, don't read it haha. Very well organized event and I had a blast.

From what I can tell, regional dealers got a certain number of spots to send out as invitations to customers. No idea how they determined who to invite, but fortunately I got one and was able to take a day off of work. Very interesting mix of people, some hardcore M guys who were in heaven, a fair amount of "why not" people who got the invite and decided to check it out. I would imagine you're group will be a little more fun since it will be all hardcore guys + guests. Have fun!

As sewellgt mentioned local (I got the impression mostly LA area) dealers got to send out invitations to customers. I recently bought my M5 so imagine that was what was behind it. The folks I talked to ended up being a mix of long term BMW customers, recent M buyers or ones where the sales folks are trying to get them to pull the trigger on a new M.
