From a 2009 E92 m3 to an F10 M5

hey guys,

so since 2009 ive been driving an e92 m3 and i totally love the car, but i just feel that the time has come for me to get into something new. Im pretty set on getting an f10 M5 and ive seen quite a few f10s in my area for under $60k and theyre 2013s and 2014s with mileage under 30k.

my e92 m3 has 68k miles and i beat the hell out of it and it probably sees redline a couple times a day on a regular basis. lol the car has not given me any sort of problems what so ever so im very happy with reliability.

Can you guys please let me know what i am in for in getting an f10 in terms of maintanence, any issues i should be aware of with the early models? are there any major issues with the 2013MYs? I plan on eventually putting a tune and coilovers on the car as well.

i know this thread is all over the place, but basically, Am i making a good choice getting into an f10 m5?

thank you guys.

thank you guys.
Your going to love it and the only problem your going to have is wondering why you didn't do it Sooner.

The m5 is just an all around beast in every aspect.

It makes massive power, handles like an M car and does all of this with four doors and the practicality of any saloon.

Give you an example, I just took it to vegas for the weekend, three people, with luggage and had a complete blast destroying the 15 freeway.

All while my passengers were watching videos on the nav screen(coded), cooled seats, 4 zone climate control and the comfort of a full size sedan that rides amazing.

On the way back on 210 I was "zooming" when my escort 360 went off, I slowed down and noticed a CHP about a half mile back, trying to catch up. I slowed down, and lowered my tinted windows...

The highway patrol pulled up right behind me ( I have no plates and my car is murdered out) for about 30 seconds. Pulled to my left, gave me a thumbs up and sped off. I was like sweeeeet.

Get it coded, get a tune, downpipes if you want amazing sounds, and an exhaust if you want to scream.

The motor is a monster, allmotor_2000 is at almost 900whp and he takes his kids to school in it..

I mean I don't know what else you can ask for from a car...

As Jeremy Clarkson said when he reviewed it.. "The F10 BMW is the best car in the world"..

Garage List
Get a 2014.

Aside from the obvious LCI upgrades which I already updated, the one I dread the most is non-bolstered seats on my 13.

Can you give me a run down of what exactly the LCI upgrades are? Tail lights? Headlights? I'm not 100% sure what that is.

If I were you I would get a CPO I think its well worth it. I had my last one for 3 years and 47k with not a single issue other than normal recommended maintenance. great car you will love it I'm on my second one.

Make sure you get the carmax warranty. It's a beast of a warranty package. Cpo warranty is good, but you will void it if you mod it. I also think with cpo your car has to be worked on by a BMW dealer. With the Carmax warranty you can take it to any shop that works with them, including BMW dealerships..

I went from an e90 M3 to an F10 M5 CP , I dont regret a thing. (miss the s65 exhaust note a bit)

Go with a 14 CP w/CPO or similar and don't look back.

Here you go, I'm looking at the same upgrade from a E90 M3.

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=822699

Basic you're getting new touch pad idrive, LCI taillights, square LED halos headlights and M6 3 spoke steering wheel. Then all other shit like ZCP are options

Personally 2013 will be a hit or miss. first year prod got some kinks. If you can find a 2014 and up then go for it. not unless you find a 2013 thats a steal and save the extra cash for issue or ext warranty.

overall the car has been pretty solid. response well with a tune and it has the bells and whistles standard. where else you going to find a car going 120mph while you get your back air cooled and getting a massage. LOL

It is on the door. Same panel as the buttons for the memory seats M 1 2 ...then there is a button with a seat icon. Press it and enjoy sensual massage @ 80mph.
