I called Valentine and they said disabling K POP was the only solution. I told them that Jersey has K band POP so I would be exposed. They said yup, that,s right! So they do admit you are not 100% in areas that use K band POP like Jersey. Time to buy a Bel Stir+ which has better sensitivity and filters out automotive K band noise but leaves full K band protection on. Not sure why Valentine can't do this. Maybe because it requires a hardware change and they are reluctant to do anything beyond software upgrades? Also asked lead mechanic if a fuse could be pulled to disable traffic aids on M5. He said no. So it's Bel Stir Plus |

Digging up an old thread here as I'm tired of my V1 going off left/right at every Audi and BMW out there.
If the Bel Stir filters out these false alarms, does the Passport 9500ix do the same? I know Bel is a subsidiary of Escort. I do not want a custom install and prefer a windshield mount. So looking to swap out my V1 for a 9500ix. Has anyone done the same? |

Get the passport Max. I got one for my M5 and seems to filter these things out well so far. I use Escort Live with it as well which is a nice add on. |

Sorry I disagree completely. If you have the drivers assistance pkg with the V1 in your car then yes you will have a sound frequently. However, I called Valentine and I'm almost certain I got a human on the phone immediately and they walked me through a quick reprogram and disabled the "pop" function and the problem was solved. More importantly the radar functions properly. I am very happy with Valentine and always recommend them to my friends.

I also called Valentine. They recommended disabling POP which I could have done BUT in NJ they use it so doing that renders it useless when you get hit by POP in this state. I asked them if there was any other option or filtering that the V1 could do but there indeed was no option. So if you are in an area that does not use POP at all then I agree, go ahead and disable "pop" and enjoy your V1. If not though (like me) the V1 is a paperweight and the Passport Max is the best option to properly receive all bands with selective filtering. My lane departure warning doesn't even set off the Max due to its ability to discern between the police POP band and the cars lane departure warning band |
