DCT in 2nd gear at stop

Driving in default settings, still in break in period. On local roads with several traffic lights I've noticed that after a full stop at light, car remains in 2nd and starts from that gear. It's not consistent, but already happened 2-3 times in last 3 weeks. Road is flat. Has any1 experienced this? Is it normal? Thanks

all normal, Its also been discussed many times as well if you want more info run a quick search for detailed threads on it.

I guess "normal" is a relative term. Mine really ticks me off. Today was in traffic and each start from second gear felt like one of those go carts with a centrifugal clutch when we were kids... I'm about sick and tired of it.

Yes, it is normal mode of operation.

If you want the gear back to 1st, put it to N first in traffic light.

I'd like it to never start in 2nd, period. I know the "fix"; if I wanted to do this, I might as well bought a standard shift...

My latest M6 GC CP does not start anytime in 2nd gear, I asked BMW whats going on, they said it's now normal to start in 1st gear.

If your not careful it can jump forward on take-off in traffic

Mine only starts in 2nd gear when in D3.

Strange. My car will only start in first gear when in D3.

D1 on the other hand, is almost always a second gear start.

How old is your car, mine delivered October 2014, always starts in 1st, my LCI M5 always started in 2nd.

can't expain it, BMW UK say it's normal to start in 1st, I have just got used to it, and am careful when in traffic to engage 2nd once moving off with the paddle shift.
